The Best Outlook in Years
by Bill Batley
The National Windshield Repair Association (NWRA) and the Mobile Tech Expo have combined their talents and efforts to produce both a Mobile Tech Expo and a windshield repair conference at the same time and in the same place. The NWRA conference is being held Saturday, January 17, and Sunday, January 18, at the Radisson Hotel Orlando in Orlando, Fla., and the Mobile Tech Expo opens Friday, January 16, and continues on Saturday, January 17. NWRA conference registration is only $170 for NWRA members (additional attendees from the same company, registered at the same time are only $120) and includes the conference, the NWRA cocktail party, demonstrations, contests, seminars and the Mobile Tech Expo. The conference, exposure to the mobile industry and education are well worth the cost.
Making the Most of the Economy
Now, with the economy in recovery mode, with insurers recognizing the cost effectiveness of windshield repair and with fleet and commercial operators looking for cost- and time-effective solutions to their windshield problems, repairers have the most potential for growth they have had in many years. Many experts predict a record repair year.
There will be dozens of opportunities to improve your repair business at the NWRA conference. The repair industryís manufacturers will share their know-how on Sunday. Roundtables devoted to individual subjects concerning repair are designed to help you improve your repairs and your marketing and provide you with add-on business opportunities. At the conference, learn how to provide a memorable service experience from Mike Boyle, president of Glas-Weld Systems, participate in an interactive windshield repair training exercise presented by Thom Inman and learn about licensing and certification from the National Glass Associationís Leo Cyr.
On Sunday, NWRA manufacturing members will take over your education on products, services and marketing windshield repair today. You will have the opportunity to talk to the manufacturers and ask them questions.
There are important political issues in the industry, including what is happening in Connecticut in regard to regulations and licensing. Learn what you can do to maintain an open marketplace in your state.
In addition, there is a lot of talk about licensing going on throughout the industry right now. Get the pros and cons of this new hot topic.
Registration for the NWRA conference includes all of the events of the Mobile Tech Expo as well. Morning seminars on January 16 and 17 cover a wide range of subjects, including paintless repair, leather and vinyl repair, and striping. The show will also include several contests, such as the Dent Olympics, a graphic application photo contest and a leather restoration and work truck/vehicle contest. Come participate in these contests or just watch and learn.
In the trade show, attendees will find at least five windshield repair companies displaying and demonstrating their equipment. This is the repairerís best opportunity to review related mobile services and see how they work. If you have ever thought of expanding your business and wondered how to do it or how to use your current expertise in a related field, come a day or two early and take advantage of the Mobile Tech Expo.
In much of the country it is cold and bleak in January, and, for windshield repair technicians, business is a little slow. So, come on down to Orlando and get the inside scoop on how to go gangbusters in 2004.
