The campaign includes a variety of marketing support tools, including consumer brochures, window stickers for showroom and sample displays, lawn signs, posters and door hangers, to assist manufacturers, dealers and remodeling contractors. It also features a website that includes direct links to the sites of window manufacturers who offer and promote Envirosealed Windows.
DOE Presents Energy Star® Awards
The Department of Energy (DOE) has announced its 2008 Energy Star awards. Pella Corp. in Pella, Iowa, was named the 2008 Energy Star Partner of the Year for Window Manufacturing. Gorell Enterprises in Indiana, Pa., and ProVia Door of Sugarcreek, Ohio, both were recognized with 2008 Energy Star Sustained Excellence
The awards for doors, windows and skylights are based on the following criteria:
• Percentage of models offered that are Energy Star-qualified;
• Proportion of total unit sales that are Energy Star-qualified;
• Correct and consistent labeling of Energy Star-qualified products and display units adhering to the Energy Star Marks, Maps and Messaging Guidelines;
• Inclusion of Energy Star logos, messaging and program information in marketing collateral and advertising materials; and
• Integration of Energy Star content in sales staff training materials. www.energystar.gov
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has posed a challenge to the homebuilding industry: to build 220,000 high-performance homes by 2012. The Builders’ Challenge initiative will require homes to meet a score of 70 or better on the EnergySmart Home Scale in order to qualify for the challenge. Homes that qualify must meet a 70 or better on the DOE’s EnergySmart Home Scale (E-Scale), available on its website.
