Climate Under Control
The Climatic door from Verre Select is designed with Canadian climate
conditions in mind. According to the company it is the only fiberglass
door that has a pre-pigmented fiberglass skin. It also sports a scratch-resistant
SMC fiberglass skin and a high-performance UV stable finish that is heat
reflective and resists fading. In addition, the doors have a CFC free
polyurethane foam-filled core.
Enhanced structural construction includes 4-inch vertical
stiles on both sides of every door, which, according to the company, helps
prevent thermal bowing.
New Looks, New Styles
Attendees can view several new products from Amesbury, ranging from hardware
to door seals. Amesbury Hardware Products, for example, will feature the
new patented P3000 multi-point lock system. The system incorporates an
American-style look with the thumbturn oriented above the handle and a
deadbolt operation independent of the satellite locking points. It is
available with a multitude of locking options. Also featured will be the
Spiral, Lite-Lift and Super-Lift balances. The 3/8-inch Super Heavy Duty
Spiral can achieve weights up to 52 pounds per pair or up to 104 pounds
when used in tandem, a powerful Class 4 balance in a small a package,
according to the company. The Lite-Lift and Super-Lift Class 5 balances
can attain weights up to 130 pounds.
In addition, Amesbury Sealing Products will feature Foam-Tite

that allows seamless, continuous corner applications. C2 reduces air and
water infiltration at corners and eliminates the need for welding or sealing
mitered joints, according to the company.
Amesbury company SSI will feature it QWFR door seal with
patent pending intumescent foam that meets a Category G Edge Seal. This
seal combines the performance of Q-LON to resist air, water and sound
penetration with the fire and smoke protection provided by Category G
and H rated gaskets. It can be used to provide a complete sealing solution
for entry, passage, hotel or firewall doors.
Low Cost, High Value
Individuals attending Win-Door can see Erdman Automation’s low cost automated
spacer applicator in action. The 400 Series Low Cost Automated Spacer
Applicator can produce more than 400 units per shift while providing straight
line application of a spacer with true 90 degree corners. Minimal operator
training is required and no data input is required for standard operation,
according to the company.
The machine works with all flexible spacer systems and with
automatic and manual spacer reels. The company adds that minimal floor
space is needed for the machine.
WTS Makes Selling Simple
WTS Paradigm has updated its Configurator program to now provide a more
intuitive and visually appealing interface. According to the company,
this new interface brings customer confidence to the selling process by
seeing a more realistic representation of what they are purchasing. The
program allows users to navigate through products, options, and to see
detailed information. It also provides real time pricing updates and an
engineering accurate drawing of what they are being quoted.
In addition, for users who configure multi-wide and mulled
units, a pop-up form similar to a web interface allows users to easily
customize pieces of the overall window while still managing common properties
across the entire configuration.

On an EnergyQuest
Quanex Building Products Corp. will showcase its new EnergyQuest door
and window patio system as part of its “Innovation Zone.” The company
says the product will give manufacturers looking to redesign and retool
their products additional options to achieve more energy-efficient U-factors,
while maintaining cost efficiency.
“For some manufacturers, using a more energy-efficient window
system will be relatively simple change, but for other manufacturers working
with older designs, it may require an entirely new window system,” said
Mark Gallant, senior product marketing manager. “With our EnergyQuest
system, we’re helping our customers by providing a high-performance system
at a fair price point.”
Available in double-hung, single-hung, slider, patio door,
casement, awning and picture window options, EnergyQuest is designed to
accommodate either double- or triple-glazed insulating glass units up
to 1 1/8-inch thick, and will be offered with or without an extruded nail
fin for desired installation method. The product also comes standard with
the company’s SuperCoat UV-cured technology.
Two New From Truth
Truth Hardware plans to display a number of new hardware products during
the show. These include its Sentry multi-point hinged patio door hardware
system, which is designed specifically for the North American market.
The system offers features such as the 90-degree thumbturn located above
the handle as well as high-performance adjustable hinges and multiple
handle designs. In addition, the company will features its new SafeGard
window opening control device, which it says is a reliable, easy-to-install
and easy-to-operate solution that meet safety requirements such as ASTM
A new tilt-and-turn product line from Royal Building Products was developed
for the North American market while being designed with a touch of European
style. According to the company, optimized thermal chambers of the profiles,
a wide selection of different frame depths suited for several construction
details and the ability to use IG configurations up to 42 mm are some
features of the new multi-functional window product line. The new line
achieves thermal values of R-7 and ER-46 using low-E/argon standard glass
package, according to the company.
True to Form
TruForm Building products has added to its Prestige casement window screen
series, offering a unique spring-loaded internal corner that is hidden
within the aluminum screen frame. The heavy gauge roll-formed aluminum
frame is easily miter cut and the corners are inserted. Using a hand drill
or simple punch, holes are created to allow for the spring loaded and
fixed tabs to be exposed. Several tab options are available to fit into
almost any window frame extrusion and no extra pull tabs or spring bolts
are needed, according to the company.
Live Demos and More
Caldwell Manufacturing Company North America LLC will feature operating
windows utilizing several of its new products as well as some from its
recent acquisitions. Included in the display will be an interactive lean
manufacturing work station featuring the company’s “Box to Pocket” roller
tilt cartridge system. Attendees can experience a live demonstration and
visit the company’s intranet “Technology Work Center” where they will
also have to opportunity to receive a secure password allowing continued
access to the site. In addition, a variety of Magnum hinges manufactured

is adding stainable, textured, double door astragals, sidelite beads and
glazing beads to its existing door components system. The full cellular
PVC door component systems includes 4 9/16-, 6 9/16- and 7 ¼-inch door
frames, brickmoulds, mull casing, SDLs, double door and patio door astragals.
Other profiles, such as cellular PVC window extensions, are also available.
The Latest in Multi-Fin Functions
A new five-fin option, designed for extreme applications that require
superior sound abatement performance as well as air and water infiltration
reduction, is now available from Ultrafab. According to the company, this
patented five fin product offering will feature the center fin and the
two outside fins for which its traditional Tri-Fin is known, well as two
additional fins spaced out within the pile fibers.
All Multi-Fin pile seals come in standard colors and a wide
range of densities, heights and backing options. Product can be inserted
during the profile extrusion process or in cut-to-length profile lineals
by the fabricator utilizing an Ultrafab provided pile insertion machine.
Also new from the company is a line of dust plugs that are
made from multiple materials to address complex sealing needs. According
to the company, plugs are designed with a foam pad in one area of the
plug where straight compression sealing is needed and with pile on another
area of the plug where active sealing is needed and the surface being
sealed against is moveable.
The company’s hybrid dust plugs can be produced continuous
on a reel, kiss cut for quick removal from a continuous backing material
or cut-to-length and ready to install. Multiple adhesive options are available
