TruSeal Technologies Inc. of Beachwood, OH, has entered into an agreement with PQ Corporation for the exclusive distribution of PQs molecular sieve products in the eastern United States. The PQ Sieves 3A and 3A-X bead products were specifically developed for use in spacers of insulating windows and other glass units requiring removal of water and solvent residues after sealing.
Vinyl Building Products of Oakland, NJ, has announced a 24,000-square-foot addition to its Little Rock, AR, facility. The company attributes the expansion to accelerated customer strength west of the Mississippi River and in the Midwest. The expansion will increase the total area of the facility to 84,000 square feet and will support several full-time positions in the company.
Boardman, OH-based American Architectural Products Corporation has signed a letter of intent to acquire all of the stock of RC Aluminum Industries, Inc., a Miami, FL-based manufacturer and installer of commercial windows, doors and curtainwalls. Terms of the transaction were not released. According to the company, the transaction had not closed at press time.
Valley Forge, PA-based CertainTeed Corporation, a subsidiary of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain of Paris, has announced that it has acquired the 50 percent that it did not already own of Insulate LLC of Auburn, WA, which had previously been a 50-50 joint venture of CertainTeed and Insulate. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Insulate, which produces vinyl windows and doors, will continue to operate as Insulate LLC.
CertainTeed has also entered into a joint venture, in which it has a controlling interest, with a group of private investors to form CertainTeed Shade Systems, LLC. The joint venture has purchased the assets of Columbus, OH-based Marvin Gardens, manufacturer of Shade Tree retractable deck and patio canopies. CertainTeed has also entered into an agreement with CertainTeed Shade Systems to market and sell the Shade Tree product line.
Glass Equipment Development (GED) of Twinsburg, OH, has welcomed eight new members to its Advancing Customer Efficiency (ACE) program, which it says is the industrys first technically advanced service program. The new members include Reliant Building Products, Alenco, Bryan, TX; ATI Windows, Inc., Upland, CA; Caradco Windows, Rantoul, IL; Norco Windows, Hawkins, WI; Pozzi Windows, Bend, OR; Vinyl Window Designs, Woodbridge, ON; Wenco Windows, Grinnell, IA; and Wenco Windows, Ringtown, PA.
The purpose of the program is to advance the efficiency of window and door fabricators.
PPG Industries of Pittsburgh, PA, has added seven more manufacturers to the list of companies licensed to use Intercept® insulating glass unit technology. Those manufacturers are Acan Windows, Mississauga, ON; BiltBest Windows, Ste. Genevieve, MO; Crystal Window & Door Systems, New York, NY; Kohler International Ltd., Debert, NS; United Window & Door Manufacturing, Springfield, NJ; Vinylmax, Cincinnati, OH; and Windowmaster, EL Cajon, CA.
Intercept technology, which incorporates a U-shaped thin-metal spacer between two glass lites, has been licensed by 65 window and insulating glass manufacturers since it was commercialized in 1992.
Hanchett Entry Systems (HES) has presented its Leadership Award to Security Lock Distributors of Needham Heights, MA. The company named Security Lock Top Performing Account in the nation. HES presents the award annually to the customer with the largest sales of electric strikes, accessories and electromagnetic door holders.
