Guardian Purchases Partners Equity in Siam Guardian
In a move that the company says reaffirms its existing commitment to Asian customers, Guardian Industries of Auburn Hills, MI, announced the purchase of its partners equity in Siam Guardian Glass Co. Ltd. (Siam Guardian).
Guardian has float glass plants in Saraburi Province near Bangkok and Rayong Province on the eastern seaboard, as well as a mirror manufacturing line. In addition, Siam Guardian has plants in India and Saudi Arabia, which Guardian says allows the company to provide all customers in the region access to a full range of its products.
Rusell Ebeid, president of Guardians Glass Group, said the company remains optimistic that Asian growth trends will continue and gain momentum in coming years. Guardian has worked to develop Thailand as a key export base for the Pacific Rim markets, said Ebeid. Our further investment in Siam Guardian reflects our long-term commitment to grow our business throughout Asia and our belief that markets will support such growth.
Fenestration Alliance Formed
With the goal of sharing information and supporting common positions on building code and regulatory issues, ten window and door associations recently formed the Fenestration Industry Alliance (FIA). As reported in a recent issue of Doors and Hardware, the scope of FIA includes exploring and coordinating current resources available to members, developing an information clearinghouse and coordinating industry representation at building code and regulatory meetings.
The idea for the alliance was originally developed by the National Fenestration Rating Council, the American Architectural Manufacturers Association and the Window and Door Manufacturers Association.
