AkzoNobel released its latest course offering, titled Aluminum Fenestration Coating Options. The presentation offers updates in technology as it relates to fenestration products and the coating options widely available in the marketplace. Going beyond simply outlining designersí options, the presentation addresses the differences in liquid paint and powder coatings.

Attendees will learn the differences between liquid- and powder-applied paint as well as the pros and cons of each. Modern paint technologies will be compared to traditional anodization and the environmental impact of all three options will be explored. The presentation will also discuss resin types, liquid and powder application processes and the importance of American Architectural Manufacturers Association specifications.

Course Title: Choosing Sustainable Finishes

This sustainable design presentation includes the selection of materials, products and manufacturers to reduce environmental impacts and improve building performance.

Participants will learn why aluminum is chosen as a building product as well as the sustainable considerations of each aluminum finish: anodize, PVDF paint (Kynar), and powder coat.

AAMA specifications and warranty information of each finish type are also discussed, as well as environmental considerations in choosing a coating applicator.
