New Tools from IBS
IBS Software of Kansas City, Mo., offers a wide range of software programs for use in the automotive glass industries. The Elmo Inventory Module, for instance, was designed to help companies keep track of parts and their locations. While the Elmo Quick Pay enables a company to apply multiple payments to one customer.

DialMark Unveils New Software
DialMark of Salt Lake City has unveiled its Auto Glass Point of Sale (POS) and business management software. According to the company, the software has a number of valuable features, including screen pops for sales and customer service scripts, full transaction auditing, centralized job routing and scheduling, contact management and e-mail integration. DialMark says it began developing the software in response to requests by glass companies for progressive sales and customer service-oriented software similar to that of other service industry software.

“I think the high demand for the software has been its high focus on selling and customer relations. It’s a lot different than other industry software,” said company president John Wharton.

Adco Introduces Titan 800Em
ADCO Products Inc. of Michigan Center, Mich., has announced the newest addition to the Titan™ family of automotive replacement glass adhesives, the Titan 800EM. According to a release issued by the company, the product provides high decking and high modulus features, coupled with Carlite approval. In addition, it offers gun-ability, cut-off string and high viscosity. 

CRL Introduces New Sealant and Caulking Gun Duo
Los Angeles-based C.R. Laurence Co. Inc. (CRL) has introduced a variable speed cordless caulking gun. According to CRL, the CG24 comes equipped with a 2.4-volt rechargeable battery and a one-hour charger. The CG24 features a variable speed dial for controlling the flow of the sealant, a patented dripless mechanism to prevent sealant run-on, a patented rapid plunger release mechanism for fast cartridge reloading, a soft grip handle for user comfort and a safety wrist strap. The gun weighs 4.4 pounds and produces 327 psi at the plunger and 700 pounds of force.

“This gun makes application of any sealant easier, and can even dispense higher viscosity automotive urethanes,” said Gary Byrum, sealants product manager. “With the 2.4-volt battery, operators can dispense anywhere from 12 to 15 standard size cartridges per full charge … And, because the caulking gun is totally portable, operator movement is not restricted by cords or hoses.”

Spectronics Introduces Maxima™ 3500 Curing Lamp
The Spectronics Corp. of Westbury, N.Y., has unveiled its brand-new ultraviolet curing lamp, the Spectro-line® Maxima 3500. According to the company, the lamp utilizes a new micro-discharge light technology, which it says enables its 35-watt bulb to produce 10 times more ultraviolet light than conventional 100-way curing lamps. In addition, the lamp has an instant on/off/restrike, which reduces curing time by eliminating lamp warm-up. Spectronics says the lamp’s special polymer housing is dent-proof and shock-resistant.

The Maxima 3500 weighs 2.5 pounds and is available in 120 V AC, 230 V AC and 12V DC versions.

Florida Professor’s Book Uncovers Windshield Inhabitants
A University of Florida ecologist has written a book for the masses, which will be useful for auto glass repair and replacement technicians who are bug enthusiasts. Mark Hostetler’s book, That Gunk on Your Car, is a guide to insects that are often found smashed against windshields. The 80-page book offers full-color photos of these insects and their crashes into auto glass. The book was published by Ten Speed Press. Although it was designed for the consumer, knowledge-thirsty auto glass repair and replacement technicians might find it useful as they clean and prep windshields.

Equalizer Releases Catalog with 700+ Products
Equalizer Inc. of Round Rock, Texas, has a new catalog, jam-packed with more than 700 items for the auto glass technician’s tool belt. The company says that a number of these products are not even available anywhere else. In addition, the catalog offers a supplement of helpful hints and suggestions to make each job run smoothly.

Equalizer’s catalog features an array of products, from its Freedom Cordless, Equalizer® Magnum, Excalibur® GT and Equalizer GT, to its blades, sheaths and other accessories. It also contains a variety of windshield repair kits, tools and other products to suit the windshield repair and replacement technician’s every need.
