Shores Joins Glass Technology
Dave Shores has joined the sales and marketing team of Glass Technology, Durango, Colo. He has 13 years of experience in the windshield repair and glass scratch removal industry. 

Shores was formerly vice president of Glas-Weld Systems, Bend, Ore., and a former member of the National Windshield Repair Association (NWRA) board of directors.

Rick Nelson to Pilkington
Jack R. (Rick) Nelson has joined the Pilkington North America (PNA) aftermarket business as building products accessory product line manager. In his new position, he is responsible for the development of the new flat glass accessory product line for distribution through the PNA service centers. (See AGRReports news item on Pilkington’s expansion in the accessories market on page 28.)

Nelson, based in Garden Valley, Calif., has more than six years experience as a product manager and reports to William George, director of marketing for PNA Automotive Glass Replacement. He had previously worked at C.R. Laurence Co. Inc.

New BTB Sales Manager 
BTB Auto Glass & Body Shop Tools, the Australian headquartered company, has named Terry Feldt as its United States sales manager. An industry veteran, Feldt was with Harmon AutoGlass for 28 years, advancing from installer to operations manager. He is located in Albertville, Minn.

Visteon Manufacturing VP
Terry Gohl has been named vice president, North American manufacturing for Visteon Corp. He is responsible for Visteon’s North American manufacturing operations, manufacturing planning, and quality processes and initiatives. Gohl joins Visteon from Tower Automotive, where for the last year he served as senior vice president of North American operations and was a company officer. 

Guardian Additions
Jim Gresehover has been named director of international development for Guardian Industries Corp. He is responsible for exploring expansion opportunities for the company’s glass, automotive and building products divisions, particularly in Asia. Prior to joining the Auburn Hill, Mich. based company, Gresehover was director of Asian business and engineering for Gentex Corp., Holland, Mich., where he oversaw sales, strategy and development for its corporate activities in Asia and South America.

Amy Hennes also has joined the company as manager of corporate communications. She oversees all of Guardian’s public relations and communications activities. Prior to joining the company, she was senior director of marketing and media relations for the Detroit Regional Chamber, the largest chamber of commerce in the United States.

ACI Activity
Alice Dickerson, who has been with ACI Distribution in Atlanta for 24 years, was recently promoted to director of sales and marketing at ACI Distribution South. 

ACI Distribution, a subsidiary of Vitro America, is a distributor of automotive replacement glass and supplies.

Vanderzee Dealer of the Year

Reed Vanderzee, owner of Auto Glass Express, Vadnais Heights, Minn., has been named 2005 Glass Dealer of the Year by the Minnesota Glass Association (MGA).

Vanderzee, who has been in the industry since 1994 and started his own company in 2000, has served on the MGA board of directors, including two terms as president of the organization. 

In making the presentation, Erica Chandler, MGA president, cited Vanderzee’s role in forming a coalition of industry leaders to develop the Glass Network, the unique partnership between auto glass professionals and insurance agencies in the state of Minnesota. 

In addition, she pointed out that Vanderzee has been a strong advocate for Minnesota’s glass industry and the continuing professional education of glass technicians in the state. 

The Glass Dealer of the Year award is presented annually by MGA based on individual leadership, innovation, and professionalism in the Minnesota glass industry. The presentation of this year’s award took place in conjunction with the Annual MGA Golf Tournament Classic on July 28.

New Head Doctor Named
Glass Doctor has promoted Mark Dawson, former vice president of operations, to president, replacing Robert Tunmire, who had been president of the Waco, Texas-based company since 1998. Dawson, a Glass Doctor franchisee of 13 years, joined the company’s corporate staff in June 2004 as vice president of operations. Tunmire continues as executive vice president of The Dwyer Group, focusing his efforts on the franchising sales department for all six Dwyer Group brands, including Glass Doctor.

Dan Mock, former franchise system manager, has been named vice president of operations replacing Dawson. He is responsible for all operations of the company and will also assist Glass Doctor through its continued growth, training and adoption of the franchise system throughout its network. Since joining the Glass Doctor team in March 2001, Mock has played an active role as a liaison between the software development team and the company’s franchisees, assisting with software enhancements. He also served as an instructor at the company’s training sessions. 

In 2004 he was promoted to senior franchise systems manager and was recognized as the Franchise Systems Manager of the Year.
