ECONZ Calling
ECONZ is a Web-based application that allows office personnel to take incoming calls and schedule jobs. The information for the job assignment—including inventory, time and place—can then be sent to the cell phones of shop technicians on the road and allow them the option of accepting (or declining) the job. When jobs are complete, the technician can then send back information about the job—start and stop time and billing information—which can be integrated with QuickBooks for manageability in the shop, the supplier explains. The program uses Verizon technology and Verizon customers with the Get It Now option on their phones can access the program immediately. There is a fee for each subscription (per use of the system), but there are no minimum or maximum limits on usage of the program.

R.A.I.S.E.’n the Bar
eDirectGlass has introduced Repair/Replacement Authorization Image System Enhancement (R.A.I.S.E), a technology process that will help make traditional call center authorizations for repair and replacement automotive glass claims obsolete, according to the company. Users must have digital image equipment such as a mobile camera phone/digital camera and an eDirectGlass TSM account. Before the technician begins work on the job, pictures of the damage, the VIN label in the driver side door jam and the vehicle’s insurance card are taken. These images are then attached to the eDirectGlass invoice record and transmitted electronically to any R.A.I.S.E. third-party participant for processing. Currently, only eDirectGlass Claims Manager claims can be accepted; however, participation in the process is not limited to companies associated with eDirect Glass and the company hopes to have all industry networks and third-party administrators participate, according to company officials.

Mitchell’s New ABS® (7.4)
San Diego-based Mitchell International has announced the latest release of its ABS Shop Management System. A collision-repair business management solution, ABS automates many functions that help shops accelerate throughput and focus on customer satisfaction. ABS 7.4 includes features such as integrated e-mail and event-messaging capabilities. Users can log comments and notes on jobs along with e-mail capability to ensure all staff and business partners are kept in the loop on the progress of projects. Additionally, enhanced parts features allow orders to be transmitted as e-mail attachments.

More than 100 sales performance, staff assignment, and job-costing/profitability reports can be generated to help shop-managers and owners eliminate waste and maximize profitability. ABS also features new interfaces. ABS interfaces with BusinessWorks and Intuit’s QuickBooks, as well as Lawson and MAS90 systems.

Cutting Edge Software
IBS is the only software company that owns and operates its own glass shop stores (Kryger Glass which has seven distribution centers and 15 retail stores), company officials point out. The company offers a full line of computer hardware from Dell. Each Dell computer system comes with a three-year on-site warranty. The company tests, configures, and loads each computer with the IBS software of the purchaser’s choice. Leasing options are available to help minimize cash outlay.

Mirror, Mirror
Redi Cuts mirrors from Burco Mirror feature high visibility packaging and are individually wrapped and bubble insulated. The part number is etched in the glass, and there are double seamed edges for safety, the supplier points out.

The mirrors also come with a warranty card in every box and a lifetime break-free guarantee.
