AGX Exhibitor Preview

Here’s an advance look at what some of the exhibitors will be showing at the first Auto Glass Show @ NACE on the trade show floor at the Mandalay Bay Hotel Convention Center. The event is sponsored by AGRR magazine and will take place November 2-4 in Las Vegas as part of Auto Glass Week.

Milwaukee 28-Volt
The new Extractor PROV28 Milwaukee from Extractor/Crystal Glass Canada has 40-50 percent more power than an 18-volt tool, according to the supplier, and the battery will run twice as long as well. The unit is equipped with a battery fuel gauge and an exclusive gear protecting clutch. Each kit includes two Lithium Ion batteries.

Vintage Glass
PPG Industries will showcase its Vintage Glass products which includes an inventory of make and model hard-to-find windshields, side- and backlites and gaskets for foreign and domestic vehicles. Featured products in booth W1529 include PPG auto glass, GTS software, Rapid Seal urethane products, Aquapel glass treatment, Delta Kits windshield repair systems and ACI window lift motors and regulators.

Tool Versatility
BTB’s auto glass cut-out tools are considered the most versatile for safe removal of all adhesive bonded auto glass, according to company officials. Tool kits include blades for encapsulated glasses, small quarter glasses, and long blades for deep-dash
windshields, as well as the Powered Cold Knife blades, which automate the manual cold/pull knife. Because the tools have no fast rotating parts or geared stroke conversions, they are considered the industry’s lowest risk power tool for hand/arm vibration injury, the supplier states.

Repair Force
The GlasWeld program includes product development, research, equipment, training, customer service and industry knowledge, company officials state. Its patented G Fusion™ auto glass repair system is designed to save time and money while producing quality results. The G Force™ scratch removal system is portable and removes even deep scratches from all types of glass. Company officials add that the one-step process has been independently tested and proven to remove scratches without distortion.

Glass Managing Software System
eDirectGlass will be unveiling eDirectGlass CR at the Auto Glass Expo at the NACE show, a free automotive glass management system for collision repair shops. The technology supplier also will demonstrate its free point-of sale system and related product line including a mobile POS system. Attendees can get a hands-on demonstration of all its products and can sign-up for a free subscription, Web site and email hosting. Gary Hart, president and CEO of eDirectGlass, will make a presentation on mobile and Internet-based technology in the Automotive Glass Pavilion; the official NACE program will provide the date, time and location of the session.

New from UltraWiz
UltraWiz® by A.N. Designs Inc. will highlight three new products at the Auto Glass Pavillion at the NACE show. Interior blades are bent to reach and cut the urethane adhesive from the inside of the vehicle without removing most interior panels or headliners. The two cut lengths are designed to get under the encapsulation of the interior of a Dodge Ram or a Dakota. Paint protection blades are designed to help reduce paint damage on exposed pinchwelds. Both blade series are made from the UltraThin series. The new UltraThin lever knife is thinner than the original 3007-K model was. In addition to these three new products, the supplier will display its entire made in the U.S. line of products.

New Gold Offerings
Gold Glass Group will debut three new products at the Auto Glass Pavillion at the NACE show. The first, a BMW humidity sensor unit, is an integral part of the automatic climate control customer option used on BMW vehicles. The sensor regulates the humidity levels within the vehicle cabin by activating the air conditioning. This activation helps to avoid the internal fogging of the windshield and sidelites. Also being introduced is an adhesive sensor pad for Audi vehicles. It is used to replace the original reusable rain/sensor unit. The adhesive pad needs to be replaced with every new windshield installation, the supplier points out. Finally, special rain-light sensor removal tools to loosen soft-glued rain/light sensor pads are available. Once the windshield is removed, the attached sensor is heated on the outside of the windshield using a hot-air dryer. The tool must be fitted exactly over the sensor and the old adhesive is loosened using sideways pressure. Also on display will be GGG’s full line of universal mouldings, tapes and foam core butyl.

Dow Launch
Dow Automotive is launching its BETASEAL™ 0°ne Clear EZKit, which was developed to meet technician demands for everything they need in one easy-to-use, economical kit. Optimized per customer feedback during 2006 trials, the kit contents include enough adhesive, cleaner and primer products and accessories for eight installations. New BETAPRIME™ Clear one-step glass/frit primer stick applicators are included. It requires no shaking, flashes off quickly and comes with color-coded heads for easy identification, the supplier points out. Materials in the kit have a common product expiration date which reduces waste potential, and provides better job tracking with single lot number and AGRSS compliance.

The supplier points out that it is 20 percent stronger than the original 120-volt tool and weighs a few ounces more. A rotary switch gives technicians precise cutting power without varying up and down no matter how thick the urethane is. The unit is made in the U.S.A.
