Auto Glass Conference

Being Held in Orlando in February

This year’s National Auto Glass Conference will be held February 14-17 at the Omni Orlando Resort at Champions Gate in Orlando, Fla.

The four-day event includes a seminar program and a two-hour supplier table-top display on Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. during a networking reception.
The educational program gets underway on Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. with keynote speaker Steven S. Little, a business growth expert. Wes Topping, chairperson of the National Glass Association, which sponsors the event, will also speak at the opening session.

This will be followed by a presentation on how to use the Internet to market a company by Mike Jones, president of GTS Services LLC.

The next morning’s program starts with a panel discussion of the online training program myglassclass.com. The panel will consist of David Walker, vice president of association services for NGA; Debi Schneider, senior manager education and training at NGA; Dan Mock, vice president operations, Glass Doctor; Bob Garner, vice president and director, Lee & Cates; and Charlie Turiello, director of safety and training, Diamond Glass Companies.

Next on the program is a review of the results of an auto glass industry study done by John Brandt, president, MPI.
In the 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. time slot attendees can choose between an installation demo moderated by Brian Clayton, manager of auto glass operations, Cindy Rowe Auto Glass, and Carl Sorrels, owner, Northwest Windshields Inc.; and a presentation on technology by Tim McDonald, president, Solid Systems.

Following this is a presentation on corrosion by Mitch Becker, technical instructor, ABRA Auto Body & Glass.
The last session of the day is a discussion of technical certification with Dale Malcolm, technical manager, Dow Automotive, Paul Heinauer, president, Glasspro Inc., Tonya Johnson, senior manager of customer service and certification for NGA, and Clayton of Cindy Rowe Auto Glass.

Friday’s program opens with an examination of the industry by Wes Topping, Jr., chief executive officer, Belron Inc., and Mark Dawson, president, Glass Doctor.

Using windshield repair to grow a business, with Jay Sampson of Safety Auto Glass, and Matt Larson, Delta Kits, is the subject of the day’s last session.

The two sessions on Saturday morning are a panel discussion of customer expectations with Bob Bischoff, national glass manager, State Farm Insurance Co.; Chris Umble, vice president sales and market development, LYNX Services; Carl Tompkins, chairperson of the Auto Glass Replace-ment Safety Standards (AGRSS) Credentialing Committee; and Leo Cyr, vice president of NGA’s auto glass division; and a discussion of side curtain airbags with Becker of ABRA.
