A Big Thank You
by Jenna Reed

Though I have covered many events over the years, this was my first time at Auto Glass Week and I am so thankful for the warm welcome that I received. So many of you stopped me to say hello or perhaps took a moment to offer encouragement as we were taping our newscasts (http://www.agrrmag.com/studio/) on-site. You truly made me smile.

Our team really pulled together and it was great to have a chance to meet so many of you in person.

So much of my role as editor is spent behind a desk and computer that I always value the opportunity to get out and meet with those in the industry face-to-face. And getting to visit sunny Tampa, Fla.? Well, youíll hear no complaints coming from me. The location was gorgeous.

Walking through the Exhibition/Extravaganza showroom floor, I was impressed by all the different companies represented and the variety of wares on display. And Iíll admit I did snag a few pens from your tables. A writer canít have too many, you know.

The energy level at the event was contagious. It was exciting to observe so many excellent educational sessions and watch the repair and replacement professionals at work in the competitions.

If we didnít have the chance to meet personally, I was the professional taking photos of all the competitors and speakers. I might have even snuck a photo or two of you in the audience or on the showroom floor when you werenít looking. While writing and editing are my first passions, photography comes in close behind, as you might have noticed.

The keynote speakers truly stood out. Jim Abbott, a professional baseball player who was born without a right hand, gave some insight that truly hit home about overcoming challenges and remaining positive.

he presentation by Richard Picciotto touched my heart. He is the highest ranking firefighter to survive the World Trade Center collapse on September 11, 2001. Listening to him recount the bravery and courage of that fateful day had me tearing up.

And I canít say enough about the caliber of the competitors in the auto glass repair and replacement competitions. Doing your job to the best of your ability in the limelight while judges, proctors, audience members, and even a photographer watch, is no easy task. But all of you did it with grace and enthusiasm. A big thank you to so many of you who came out to compete

f we didnít have a chance to talk on-site, please donít hesitate to reach out. My email is jreed@glass.com and I would love to hear from you.
