NGA Show 2001 Hits Miami
The NGA Show™ 2001 is heading east this year. The show, sponsored by the National Glass Association, the Glass Association of North America and the American Architectural Manufacturers Association, will be held March 14-16 at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Fla.

Throughout March 14-16, the trade show will run concurrently with a number of seminars, lectures and panel events for the fenestration industry, and will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.
Among those exhibiting at the show, the Friedman Corp. of Deerfield, Ill., will feature its own application software solutions for door and window manufacturers, including Frontier and Frontier Systech, its latest launches. Frontier and Frontier Systech are designed to integrate customer service, production and distribution operations throughout a multi-plant, multi-mode manufacturing environment.

In addition, Friedman will unveil Frontier PowerBids, a quoting and remote order entry system. The system is designed for the use of field sales employees, dealers and distributors to handle varying deadlines and fluctuating demands for products to produce the right products at the right times.

Likewise, Automated Window Machinery Inc. of Akron, Ohio, will feature the Satellite and the Twin Electra. According to the company, the Satellite is a five-axes CNC machining and sawing center, which is designed for processing bars or pieces in aluminum, PVC, light alloys and steel. Automated Window Machinery says it can perform any kind of work from the extruded to the finished part, including drilling, milling, cutting, tapping and end-milling. The machine has a monolithic load-bearing, electrically-welded steel machine bed on which the frame, equipped with electrical spindle and tool changer, slides, according to the company.

The Twin Electra is a twin series double mitre saw for cutting angles from 45- to 22- degrees, Automated Window Machinery says. The saw has the capability of cutting aluminum, PVC, wood and fiberglass. It employs blades of 500-mm diameters and can cut 4000-, 5000- and 6000-mm lengths, with a minimum cutting length of 350-mm at 90 degrees. According to the company, the Twin Electra has CNC-controlled axes, a cutting unit positioning accuracy of +/-0.1 and pure oil blade coolant.

The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), based in Schaumburg, Ill., also will distribute information on its ANSI-accredited finished product certification program. According to the association, the AAMA Certification Label on a product alerts customers that the products conform to the ANSI/AAMA/NWWDA 101/I.S.2 standard’s requirements. The certification is verified through independent laboratory testing and follow-up on-site inspection of the manufacturer’s production line. The standard applies to aluminum, vinyl and wood windows and glass doors.

Vision Industries Group Inc. of Brooklyn, N.Y., will exhibit its new patented line of snap and slide tilt latches and a new line of vinyl casement window hardware. According to the company, its snap and slide tilt latches are available in both standard and smaller sizes. Vison’s line of casement hardware includes a new single operating locking and unlocking technology, a heavy-duty stainless steel four-bar hinge for projection and casement windows.

In addition, the company will feature sash locks, keepers, balance shoes, tilt latches, night locks, weep hole covers, screen parts, sash lift end caps, pivot bars and sash assemblies.
