NWDA Hosts Successful Winter Meeting in Philadelphia
The Northeast Window
& Door Association (NWDA) held its winter meeting January 14-15, 2002, at the Hyatt
Regency at Penns Landing in Philadelphia. Two days full of informative sessions,
board meetings, social events and industry updates took place.
The board of directors met and the exhibitor tabletops were opened for the evening portion
of Monday, January 14. Here industry members could interact with association members and
forge new relations or maintain current partnerships. An additional avenue for networking
was the night out at Dave & Busters for all those who chose to attend.
Association information was presented after a full morning breakfast and time to visit the
tabletop displays. New officers were elected and announced, and membership information was
provided to members including a financial update.
Members of the NWDA 2002 board of directors
are: NWDA president Keith Oakley of Air Chek Mfg., NWDA first vice president Terry Rex of
BF Rich, second vice president Jon Hill of Keystone Certifications and treasurer Clark
Burget. NWDA active member directors are Willis Schlabach of Sugarcreek Windows, Mike
Sugrue of Winchester Industries, Jim Ruby of Lockheed Windows and Art Poland of Thermal
Industries. NWDA associate member directors are Mike Mackereth of Architectural Testing,
Kim Fondrk of Amesbury Group, Bill Donnelly of Custom Craft Plastics and Tom Scheg of
Spectus Systems/A Mik-ron Company.
Oakley presented Peter Dalton, a representative of Habitat for Humanity, with more than
$55,000 of materials donated by NWDA members as well as a check for $5,780 from the sales
of mulligans for the associations golf tournaments and other fund raisers. In
return, Habitat for Humanity awarded the NWDA with a golden hammer plaque for its many
contributions.
PPG provided a session on Self Cleaning Glass: What Is It and How Does It
Work, and Henry Taylor of Architectural Testing spoke on the facts and
misconceptions of acoustical performance. The meeting was well attended and members are
already planning to attend the summer meeting to be held July 15-16, 2002, in Turf Valley
Resort, Ellicott City, Md.
