APPOINTMENTS
Gorell Adds to Ranks

MFrancis Mike Francis

Gorell Windows & Doors of Indiana, Pa., has named Mike Francis as national sales manager of conservatories. In his new position, Francis will establish an exclusive dealer network to market a new line of American Conservatory™ systems, which are distributed by Gorell. He also will assist dealers with product training and support regarding conservatories.

In addition, Gorell has named Thomas Traub to the position of regional sales manager for Florida and Southern Georgia. In his new position, Traub will establish dealers to market Gorell’s vinyl windows and doors, patio doors and aluminum storm products.

Granco Clark President Appointed to AEC Board
Lawrence Difatta, president and chief executive officer of Belding, Mich.-based Granco Clark was elected to the board of directors of the Aluminum Extruders Council (ACE). He will serve a one-year term as supplier director. 

Difatta has been Granco Clark’s president since 1992.

G-U Hardware Opens West Coast Affiliate
G-U Hardware Inc. of Newport News, Va., has established G-U West Inc., an affiliate which will serve as a sales and distribution outlet for the West Coast market. Barry Chenault will serve as G-U West’s branch manager. Anita Chenault will serve as administrator and customer service representative.

Davis-Standard Promotes Engineers
Davis-Standard, a Crompton Business of Pawcatuck, Conn., has promoted Darrell Dardenne as territorial field sales engineer and Kevin Slusarz to senior process consultant. As territorial field sales engineer, Dardenne will cover North and South Carolina for the Profile Group, and for the Reclaim Group, he will cover North and South Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi and Alabama. As senior process consultant, Slusarz will be responsible for coordinating lab runs, overseeing special products and providing process reports for the Davis-Standard Small Systems Lab.
In addition, the company has promoted Mark Lindenfelzer to the position of senior sales engineer for its profile and reclaim group and Wendell Whipple Jr. has been promoted to systems sales engineer for the company’s profile systems business. Lindenfelzer will be responsible for profile and reclaim extrusion mach-inery systems sales, as well as sheet products, in New England. Whipple will be responsible for support of field sales personnel in selling profile extrusion machinery systems.

Style Solutions™ Inc. of Archbold, Ohio, has a new director of sales, Rick Davis … Computers Mean Business Inc. of Toronto has a new marketing representative, Denis Cote, who will serve the province of Quebec, states of New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont and Florida … The Canadian Window and Door Manufacturers Association, based in Ottawa, Canada, has appointed Jeff Baker, P.E., president of WESTLab Canada in Waterloo, Ontario, as its new technical consultant. Baker’s contract became effective September 1.

NFRC Names New Officers
The board of directors of the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), which is based in Silver Spring, Md., has elected Tony Rygg of the California Energy Commission as its sixth chairperson. The board also elected Randy Van Voorst as vice chairperson, Garrett Stone as secretary and Roland Temple as treasurer. All four officers will serve a one-year term for the association.

In addition to these comings, there are also some goings at the NFRC. The following three members of the board have retired: Bill Lingnell of the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Association; Steve Selkowitz of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; and Carl Wagus of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association. These three have been replaced by: Dariush Arasteh of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; Jim Larsen of Cardinal Insulating Glass; and Marvin Stover of Mikron Industries.

The remaining board members for 2002 are as follows: John Hogan of the City of Seattle; Jim Krahn of Marvin Windows and Doors; Duane Larson of Pacific Gas and Electric Co.; Tom Mewbourne of AFG Industries Inc. and Bill Prindle of the Alliance to Save Energy.
