APPOINTMENTS
WDMA Names New Director of Code Compliance
Michael Fischer, formerly technical director for the National Sunroom Association (NSA), hasMichael Fischer been named director of Codes and Regulatory Compliance for the Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA), located in Des Plaines, Ill. Fischer’s first task will be to help industry members comply with building code provisions from the International Code Council, a combination of three model code entities that will merge in January 2003.

In addition to working with the code groups, Fischer will serve as liaison to the door and window division’s building codes and regulatory committees. He will help members develop WDMA’s overall code strategy.

Fischer’s technical career began in the overhead-door industry in 1982. Following a sales representative position with Owens Corning’s fabrication division and as building code program manager for Clopay Building Products, he moved to the NSA in 1999. He helped spearhead the creation of product standards for sunroom additions and the successful adoption of a variety of code proposals into the international codes.

REALIGNMENT
Edgetech Makes Changes to Marketing Team
Jim PlavecskyJim Plavecsky, vice president of sales and marketing for Edgetech IG, based in Cambridge, Ohio, has decided to leave the company to start his own sales and consulting firm, Windowtech Sales Inc. However, Plavecsky will still have close ties to Edgetech. His new company will continue to represent the company and its products in Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky and Western Pennsylvania. He will also work on a contract basis as an Edgetech consultant, which may include such duties as new product commercialization, writing articles and conducting industry seminars.

Larry Johnson, formerly key accounts manager for Edgetech, has been named executive vice president. In his new position, Johnson will be responsible for all North American sales and marketing for the company.

PROMOTIONS
Roto Frank Promotes Axel Husen
Roto Frank of America, located in Chester, Conn., recently promoted Axel Husen as chief operating officer. He will assume the position of president on January 1, 2003.

Husen has been with the organization for 14 years, six of which have been spent with Wilhelm Weidtmann, a sister company in Germany. In 1994, he moved to Roto Frank of America. From that time, he has held the positions of product manager, products and marketing manager and, most recently, vice president of sales and marketing for both the hardware systems and roof windows divisions.

His promotion comes as the current president, Peter Kroes, announces his retirement effective December 31, 2002. Kroes, who has been with the organization for 33 years, both in the United States and Holland, has held the position of president for 15 years. Following his retirement, he will remain with the company in an advisory capacity.
