NWDA Golf Outing and Meeting is a Success
The Northeast Window and Door Association (NWDA) held its summer membership meeting July 15-16, 2002, at the Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Md.
The event kicked off with a pre-golf barbecue lunch. Golfers then took to the 18-hole championship golf course to participate in the 17th annual Willie Langfelder Golf Outing which was followed by cocktails at an outdoor crab feast.
NWDA members got down to business the next day with the general session and speaker program. Following the welcome by Terry Rex, NWDA program chair and Keith Oakley, NWDA president, were reports by the NWDA’s various committees.
Robert E. Nyman of Livingston Affiliates started out the speaker portion of the program with his presentation, “Effective Integrated Marketing Communications—What you Need to Know.”
The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Richard Karney spoke about the DOE’s ENERGY STAR® program including current changes in ENERGY STAR compliance regulations for manufacturers and updates on proposed federal tax credits and comparison of the House/Senate bills.
Various representatives of the glass industry then took part in a panel discussion on self-cleaning glass. Pilkington and PPG talked about their Activ™ and SunClean™ products, respectively, both of which have been in production for some time now. Guardian offered information on its Diamond-Guard™ product, and said that it should be in full production by September 2003.
The NWDA winter meeting will be held in Philadelphia, January 13-14, 2003.
Midwest Builders Show Exceeds Goals
The Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago announced it has exceeded its exhibitor goals for the Midwest Builders Show and as a result will open up additional floor space to accommodate demand for exhibitor booths.
The Midwest Builders Show is slated for March 18-21, 2003, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. Booth sales began in the spring and by mid-August were virtually sold out, according to show representatives.
In addition to exhibits, the Midwest Builders Show will provide educational advancement opportunities through approximately 24 educational seminars.

Exhibitor reservations are now being accepted for interGLASSmetal/FENESTRATION world 2003 (iGm/FW 2003), which will be held in Columbus, Ohio, November 4-6, 2003. iGm/FW officials expect more than 6,000 decision-makers from around the world to attend the 14th biennial event at the recently expanded Greater Columbus Convention Center, where they will be able to explore more than 200 exhibits.
Registration and exhibitor reservations can be made through the event’s website at
