NSDJA Annual Convention to Offer Education, Networking

If you are a window or door manufacturer who wants to learn more about what your customers want, then you won’t want to miss the annual convention of the National Sash and Door Jobbers Association (NSDJA) being held October 12-16, 2002, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.

This year’s convention—Millwork Ole!—will have more than 150 exhibitors and will occupy 172,000 square feet of meeting space.

“Meeting face-to-face with our colleagues provides the opportunity to regain focus and direction in our professional lives, rekindle relationships and maximize the power of a handshake and a good conversation,” said NSDJA executive director Linnea Johansson about the annual convention in the May issue of SHELTER magazine, DWM/BCM’s sister publication.

Opening General Session
The opening general session this year will start with Dr. Barry Asmus. “You won’t want to miss his enthusiastic and humorous presentation on the economy, the future, globalization and public policy,” said George Lorenz, co-chairperson of the annual convention program planning committee.

5K Run & Fun Walk
The 5K Run & Fun Walk is new this year. The 5K, which is scheduled for Sunday morning, is to raise money for a local charity in memory of Sandy Lavitt, 2001 NSDJA honorary chairperson.

Awards Breakfast
The awards breakfast, which used to be known as the awards luncheon, will feature Dr. Beck Weathers. He will discuss his incredible story of survival on Mt. Everest.

La Villita Celebration
An outdoor fiesta will be the setting of Tuesday night’s entertainment. “The La Villita Celebration will bring together all the rich history and traditions of San Antonio with a party held under the stars, that you will long remember. The evening will include singers and Mariachi bands, and the country group Asleep at the Wheel will present Texas swing for you light-footed dancers. The finest local cuisine will be served with your favorite beverages,” said Lorenz.
