A Winning Combination
Maxym Technologies Inc. of Biddeford, Maine, has combined the operation of its CNC mortiser and tenoner to create an economical manufacturing solution for doors. The CJ96 is a versatile 96-inch three axis CNC machine capable of three-inch mortising and tenoning. According to the company, its touch screen interface allows the operator to set up jobs in 30 seconds and perform with great accuracy. The easy-to-use technology provides versatility at an excellent value, according to the company. 


Drilling for Convenience
Builders Automation Machinery Co. of Largo, Fla., has made its automated pre-hung door equipment better with the addition of pre-drill units. On both the 995E and 996E machines outfitted with 1550 hinge applicators, customers can select to have the pre-drill units added as options. The units can also be field-installed onto existing machines.

The pre-drill units are mounted to the router bases and simultaneously drill pilot holes for screw application prior to hinge application, according to the company. The products pivot to remain out of the way while routing, position automatically for drilling, and then retract again. 

“The real decision maker for our customers is the value of our machinery. We offer automatic processing controlled by a single operator at prices up to 40 percent below our competition for machines similarly equipped,” said Robert Mitvalsky, chief executive officer. 


Erdman’s Sealant Applicator Reduces Rejections
Erdman Automation Corp. of Princeton, Minn., says its Hand Assist Glazing Table reduces labor, increases efficiency and enables greater profits. The precision sealant applicator reduces waste up to 85 percent and clean up as much as 95 percent, according to the company.

The table uses a servo-control system to provide a consistent diameter bead of sealant at speeds up to 30 inches per second, and the control will allow any operator to apply a properly-proportioned bead of sealant. The tables are available to perform hot, cold or two-part glazing and can be set up for bead sizes from .0600 inches up to .50 inches in diameter. Custom models, configurations and sizes are unlimited, according to the company. 


DuraDrum™ Offers Low-Maintenance Applications
DuraDrum bulk melters from Nordson Corp. of Duluth, Ga., delivers low-maintenance application of hot-melt adhesives, sealants and butyls to applications including the feeding of roll coasters used for laminating doors. Products are applied from 200-liter or 55-gallon drums, and the melters feature manual pressure control and blow-off valves, easy-to-use controls and status-at-a-glance indicators. 

A seven-day clock allows automatic daily startup and shutdown. The design offers choices of gear pumps and preset fixed motor speeds to meet varied production output requirements, according to the company. Connections and single-side access for controls and drum changes are triggered by a handgun. A dual hose/gun configuration allows supply of two independent applications from a single DuraDrum melter. 


CMS Provides Unique Solutions
CMS DOMUS Machining Centers is a moving bridge machining center equipped with dual independent working units and a special working table equipped with power-driven moveable rails and vices. 

Many different lengths and widths of DOMUS, and many different working units, drilling groups and mechanical aggregates are available. It can do the work of multiple machines and is targeted for medium and diversified production volumes, according to the company. It can also carry out internal and external profiling, straight and curved profiling, tenon, counterprofile and comb-shaped joints and shaped recesses for hardware. 

CMS’s design efforts were aimed at minimizing idle times and reducing operator intervention. The power-driven rails and vices are controlled by dedicated software, and automatic accurate positioning of the rails and vices are achieved. According to the company, one working unit can be machining while the other working unit is changing tools.
