Atech Launches KD 658 Four-Corner Welder
Atech Inc.’s newest machine, the KD 658, is an automatic, four-corner welding machine, which comes with a SIEMENS computer system. It welds frame and sash vinyl profiles at 90 degrees providing maximum accuracy on welding, according to the company, and it operates in five different languages (English, Spanish, French, Russian and Turkish), allowing fast data input. It can hold at least 200 profile configurations (8 parameters for each profile) in its memory, including melting, welding and retaining time, height, width, profile number, color information, fixture number and manufacturer code.

KD-658 can weld all types of profiles including colored and white ones and automatically recognizes color differences as necessary. The line has a digital temperature control system, a central lubrication system and an automatic Teflon-wrapping device on its heater plates. www.atechmachine.com

Kanefusa Saw Blades Available from Pat Mooney Inc.
Pat Mooney Inc. in Addison, Ill., now offers high-performance Kanefusa saw blades, which it says allow material to be cut fast and with little material loss.

The tooth geometry of Kanefusa blades points to lower cutting forces, high blade RPM and high resistance to chipping, according to the company. To ensure that plates are free from distortion and have uniform thickness, Pat Mooney says Kanefusa saw blades are precision-flattened and ground. A variety of Kanefusa Saw Blades are offered (ST-4, Ti-4 and TA-4SUS) for cutting bearing steel, drive shafts, rails, pipes and more. These blades are especially recommended for use with Pat Mooney Nishijimax CNC carbide cut-off systems. www.patmooneysaws.com

IG UNITS
Glasslam Offers System for Impact-Resistant IG Units
Pompano Beach, Fla.-based Glasslam N.G.I Inc. has introduced the patent-pending Air-Tight Sudden Impact IG System, which it says enables window companies and glass fabricators to produce insulating glass that meets tough hurricane impact codes quickly and efficiently. The system works by applying a layer of crystal clear resin with a proprietary process, bonding one interior glass surface with the Air-Tight Spacer, rapidly creating a hurricane impact unit containing only two pieces of glass. “We’re helping our customers eliminate unnecessary complexity in the production of hurricane impact insulated glass,” says Glasslam president Steve Howes. “Our new product integrates our warm-edge spacer technology with a revolutionary glass application.”

Glasslam introduced its own spacer line at the GlassBuild America show in Atlanta in September (see October DWM, page 53, for related story). www.glasslam.com

FINISHED PRODUCTS
TRACO Expands Biscayne Line with Impact Products
Cranberry Township, Pa.-based TRACO has added a full line of thermal aluminum impact coastal area doors and windows to its Biscayne Shutterless ™ line of products. It says the newest products meet the certifications of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) certifications, along with those of the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), Energy Star®, the Florida Building Code (FBC) and the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI).

The new doors’ and windows’ 2-¾-inch thermally broken frame has been designed to keep the inside environment comfortable regardless of the outside weather. Likewise, the aluminum frames are ideal for coastal markets because they are structurally strong and will resist rotting, bowing, warping or fading in heavy rain and blazing sun, according to the company. The doors and windows are equipped with insulating laminated glass that also provides an added layer of protection from the cold and heat.

In addition, the Shutterless thermal products eliminate the need to spend time putting up plywood or waste storage space when not in use and provide continual added protection.

Biscayne products include single-hung, sliding, casement and fixed windows and sliding glass doors and terrace doors. www.traco.com

GLASS
Glasscraft Offers Etching and Engraving
GlassCraft USA, based in Norcross, Ga., offers etching/engraving that can be used to produce designs on homes’ front doors and patio doors, windows and other applications. The company says that designs can be customized for individuals, and for very upscale homes, designs can be custom-made with family crests, etc.

Decorative doors and windows can be etched or engraved, saving energy and money and keeping harmful germs from sticking to the adhesives in decorative vinyl, says the company. The company offers a portable engraving system that can be used on any type or size of glass and can engrave designs onto all types of glass deeper than is normally possible. This ‘deep cut’ etching allows the engraved design to be painted using traditional artists’ techniques and modern airbrushing and spraying methods, achieving full color designs. www.glasscraftusa.com

FINISHES
Truth Hardware Unveils New Finish
Truth Hardware introduced a new economic alternative to traditional oil rubbed bronze plating. The new color, Faux Bronze (FB), has a warm painted finish and is a virtual mirror image to oil rubbed bronze, according to the company.

Truth adds that it can be applied easily to both zinc and plastic parts. As a “non-living” painted finish, FB will not rub off or wear like oil rubbed bronze plating and will retain its appearance long after it is installed in the home, according to the company. The finish is available for both door and window hardware products. www.truthhardware.com
