OBITUARIES

AAMA Remembers Jan Hockett
The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) has announced the passing of Jan Hockett on March 18 after a long battle with cancer. Hockett retired last year as the director of meetings after 25 years with AAMA. 

“[Jan Hockett] was a strong and vibrant woman with a huge heart and a ton of class. She not only planned great meetings; she was that ‘welcome’ face you always looked forward to seeing and catching up with … We know that many of our members feel the same way about her and will miss her as well,” says Rich Walker, AAMA’s president and chief executive officer.

NEW HIRES

Edgetech Adds Two to Sales Team
Edgetech I.G. in Cambridge, Ohio, has added a few new members to its team.

Mike Burk, a fifteen-year-veteran of the insulating glass industry, will bring his expertise to managing the Eco-Coat product line. In this role, Burk will lead both sales and customer service teams, specifically assisting in outlining and implementing internal training programs, as well as providing direct support.

Burk received his bachelor’s degree in business from Myers College in Cleveland and his master’s in adult learning and development from Cleveland State University. 

Beau Jasmer has also joined the Edgetech I.G. team, serving as project leader and regional sales manager for the Southwest United States.

Jasmer earned his bachelor’s degree in production and operations management from California State University, Chico. He served previously as purchasing agent and customer service manager for Pulte Homes Inc. 

The company has also appointed a new product manager in North America. Rob Miller will be the new product manager for the Form8tor vinyl bending system and the EZ RAD muntin placement table. Miller has been with Edgetech for five years and has additional experience in sales and marketing. 

PROMOTIONS

Stürtz Machinery Announces Promotions
Stürtz Machinery Inc. of Solon, Ohio, has announced the promotions of Steve Warner and Kevin Schwartz. Warner has taken over the responsibilities as service manager. He has been with Stürtz since 1997.

Schwartz has been promoted to the position of service coordinator. He has been employed in the service group with Stürtz since 2000.

In addition, Bob Beardslee and Ed Simmons from the company’s software group will continue with in-house phone support as needed. The group will be led by technical manager, Don Johnsen, who will also be active in customer support. 

Stürtz has also added Dan Rozelman to the SMI sales department as regional sales manager for the Midwest and Northeast U.S.

APPOINTMENTS

Weather Shield Names Senior Sales Managers
Weather Shield® Windows and Doors of Medford, Wis., has named three senior sales managers. 

Dan Drost has been named North Central senior sales manager. Drost joined Weather Shield in 1993 and most recently served as North Central regional sales manager.  

Bill Dix has been named Northeastern senior sales manager. He joined Weather Shield in 1994 as Mid-Atlantic regional sales manager. Additionally, Steven Walden has been named Western senior sales manager.

ASSOCIATIONS

WDMA Elects New Chairman
Dave Beeken, president of Eagle and KML Windows and Doors in Dubuque, Iowa, has been elected chairman of the board of directors of the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA).

Beeken moves up from vice chairman of the window division and replaces outgoing WDMA chairman Jim Hackett, vice president-sales for Jeld-Wen Inc. in Klamath Falls, Ore., who becomes immediate past chairman and a member of the board of directors.
