Green is More than a Color at Koch
Koch Green Doors in Seneca, Kan., manufactures doors that are free of synthetic formaldehyde resins, are laboratory-certified and contain 85-percent rapidly renewable resources by volume. In addition, the products have a stable, engineered core to resist warping, cracking and splitting, the company says. The doors are equipped with a lag bolt construction, which means the metal bolts are bored through the door edges to secure stiles and rails, and go through a three-stage sanding process, including a final hand sanding. The doors also utilize ultra-low VOC water-based adhesives and both stile and rails doors are available in stain- or paint-grade with a wide variety of designs, sizes, wood species and glass
options. www.kochandco.com
Household Metals Adds Aluminum Storm Door to Line
Philadelphia-based Household Metals Inc. has added the Elite aluminum storm door to its SafeGuard™ line. The door features a “hidden” adjustable expander frame, which the company says lets the door maintain a neat and aesthetically-pleasing appearance by keeping the adjustable expander pieces hidden in the doorjamb. The patented hidden expander frame is adjusted to the opening of the unit simply by turning a screwdriver. Continuous extruded hinges, which the company says are guaranteed to never sag or break throughout their lifetime, also are incorporated into the door. The door is available in 18 standard and more than 200 custom powder coat
finishes. www.hmidoors.com
TRANSPORTATION AND
PACKAGING
EDL Offers Unit Load Systems
Green Bay, Wis.-based EDL Packaging Engineers Inc. offers its unit load systems, which it says allows manufacturers to enclose large, variable-sized products for transit. Translucent low-density polyethylene film provides both product and handling point visibility during transit, at a significant cost reduction over corrugated based packaging, according to the company. In addition, the company says opaque film protects the enclosed products from ultraviolet radiation exposure during extended periods of outdoor storage.

It’s Easy Being Green with GreenShield™
The Greenstone Group in New York has developed GreenShield, which is designed to shield wood from water, moisture and fire. The material, which is based on a patented technology developed by the company, is easy to apply and cures quickly, according to the
company.
GreenShield is designed to penetrate and encapsulate the material at a molecular level creating a composite material. It is totally organic and can be applied by brush, spray, dipping or pressure treatment process. It is a clear thin liquid and crystallizes within the material in very short time, reacting with the moisture in the air and the material itself. The company says GreenShield will not change the color of the material, though color dye can be added and the treated material can be painted or
stained. www.egreenstone.com
