Reach the Big 6-0 with Accoya®
Accsys Technologies officials say a new study from Building Research Establishment (BRE) has found that its Accoya wood product can be used to produce windows with a 60-year life. The 13-year field tests compared the rot and decay levels of mortise and tenon corner L-joints made with Accoya wood against mortise and tenon corner L-joints made of other wood species commonly used for window manufacturing, according to the company.

Amesbury Undergoes Re-Branding
Amesbury has completed a rebranding program and has dropped the word “Group” from its name. The company also has a new tagline, “Reliable Resource. Superior Solutions.” “The divisions are excited by the possibilities created by this initiative,” says Paul Prezzano, director of sales and marketing for Schlegel, an Amesbury company. “It was a collaborative effort—producing a unity of thought that made the program successful. We have already experienced its power in our communication materials.”

Amesbury also has redesigned its website to reflect the branding change. “The new website leverages our divisional strength under the Amesbury name,” says Wayne Steinhauer, vice president of Amesbury Hardware Products. “It is a great example of our branding strategy in action.”

Latch on to TRU-Latch
Interlock USA recently introduced its newest innovation, the TRU-Latch sash lock, which features a sensitive trigger mechanism designed to activate with little force. Company officials say the TRU-Latch also minimizes upper sash drag, making it ideal for double-hung windows.

The new TRU-Latch mechanism is designed to fit the complete range of styling and housing options available for the original PRO-Latch automatic sash lock line, including surface mount or flush mount options, concealed screws, and a variety of architectural finishes, according to the company. The TRU-Latch also is hurricane-rated in impact-certified applications.

Seal Up French Doors
Quanex’s Imperial Products division designed the Triple Seal and StainRite Astragals to tightly seal the clearance gap between French doors to prevent air and water penetration. According to the company, French doors using these astragals have been tested and certified to levels higher than PG40 ratings for air and water performance. Likewise, the astragals’ durable molded boots are certified for 5,000 cycles with no wear. Both astragals feature a stainable vinyl wrap, available in oak and mahogany grain, providing the look of a wood product.
