when Win-Door North America once again takes places at the Metro Toronto
Convention Center, November 6-8. Hundreds of exhibitors offering everything

Climate Under Control
The Climatic door from Verre Select is designed with Canadian climate
conditions in mind. According to the company it is the only fiberglass
door that has a pre-pigmented fiberglass skin. It also sports a scratch-resistant
SMC fiberglass skin and a high-performance UV stable finish that is heat
reflective and resists fading. In addition, the doors have a CFC free
polyurethane foam-filled core.
Enhanced structural construction includes 4-inch vertical
stiles on both sides of every door, which, according to the company, helps
prevent thermal bowing.

New Looks, New Styles
Attendees can view several new products from Amesbury, ranging from hardware
to door seals. Amesbury Hardware Products, for example, will feature the
new patented P3000 multi-point lock system. The system incorporates an
American-style look with the thumbturn oriented above the handle and a
deadbolt operation independent of the satellite locking points. It is
available with a multitude of locking options. Also featured will be the
Spiral, Lite-Lift and Super-Lift balances. The 3/8-inch Super Heavy Duty
Spiral can achieve weights up to 52 pounds per pair or up to 104 pounds
when used in tandem, a powerful Class 4 balance in a small a package,
according to the company. The Lite-Lift and Super-Lift Class 5 balances
can attain weights up to 130 pounds.
In addition, Amesbury Sealing Products will feature Foam-Tite
C2, a soft TPV foam material combined with carefully designed geometry
that allows seamless, continuous corner applications. C2 reduces air and
water infiltration at corners and eliminates the need for welding or sealing
mitered joints, according to the company.
Amesbury company SSI will feature it QWFR door seal with
patent pending intumescent foam that meets a Category G Edge Seal. This
seal combines the performance of Q-LON to resist air, water and sound
penetration with the fire and smoke protection provided by Category G
and H rated gaskets. It can be used to provide a complete sealing solution
for entry, passage, hotel or firewall doors.

Low Cost, High Value
Individuals attending Win-Door can see Erdman Automation’s low cost automated
spacer applicator in action. The 400 Series Low Cost Automated Spacer
Applicator can produce more than 400 units per shift while providing straight
line application of a spacer with true 90 degree corners. Minimal operator
training is required and no data input is required for standard operation,
according to the company.
The machine works with all flexible spacer systems and with
automatic and manual spacer reels. The company adds that minimal floor
space is needed for the machine.

this new interface brings customer confidence to the selling process by

On an EnergyQuest
Quanex Building Products Corp. will showcase its new EnergyQuest door
and window patio system as part of its “Innovation Zone.” The company
says the product will give manufacturers looking to redesign and retool
their products additional options to achieve more energy-efficient U-factors,
while maintaining cost efficiency.
“For some manufacturers, using a more energy-efficient window
system will be relatively simple change, but for other manufacturers working
with older designs, it may require an entirely new window system,” said
Mark Gallant, senior product marketing manager. “With our EnergyQuest
system, we’re helping our customers by providing a high-performance system
at a fair price point.”
Available in double-hung, single-hung, slider, patio door,
casement, awning and picture window options, EnergyQuest is designed to
accommodate either double- or triple-glazed insulating glass units up
to 1 1/8-inch thick, and will be offered with or without an extruded nail

Two New From Truth
Truth Hardware plans to display a number of new hardware products during
the show. These include its Sentry multi-point hinged patio door hardware
system, which is designed specifically for the North American market.
The system offers features such as the 90-degree thumbturn located above

handle designs. In addition, the company will features its new SafeGard
window opening control device, which it says is a reliable, easy-to-install

for the North American market while being designed with a touch of European
style. According to the company, optimized thermal chambers of the profiles,
a wide selection of different frame depths suited for several construction

TruForm Building products has added to its Prestige casement window screen
series, offering a unique spring-loaded internal corner that is hidden
within the aluminum screen frame. The heavy gauge roll-formed aluminum
frame is easily miter cut and the corners are inserted. Using a hand drill
or simple punch, holes are created to allow for the spring loaded and
fixed tabs to be exposed. Several tab options are available to fit into
almost any window frame extrusion and no extra pull tabs or spring bolts

recent acquisitions. Included in the display will be an interactive lean
manufacturing work station featuring the company’s “Box to Pocket” roller

also have to opportunity to receive a secure password allowing continued

Worry-Free Door Components
Cellular PVC maintenance-free door components from Vi-Lux Mouldings are
available in both white and textured stainable finishes to match traditional
wood or fiberglass entrance doors. These PVC door components will not
rot, crack, absorb water and are insect-resistant.
The company plans to feature new cellular PVC profiles and
is adding stainable, textured, double door astragals, sidelite beads and
glazing beads to its existing door components system. The full cellular
PVC door component systems includes 4 9/16-, 6 9/16- and 7 ¼-inch door

The Latest in Multi-Fin Functions
A new five-fin option, designed for extreme applications that require
superior sound abatement performance as well as air and water infiltration
reduction, is now available from Ultrafab. According to the company, this
patented five fin product offering will feature the center fin and the
two outside fins for which its traditional Tri-Fin is known, well as two
additional fins spaced out within the pile fibers.
All Multi-Fin pile seals come in standard colors and a wide
range of densities, heights and backing options. Product can be inserted
during the profile extrusion process or in cut-to-length profile lineals
by the fabricator utilizing an Ultrafab provided pile insertion machine.
Also new from the company is a line of dust plugs that are
made from multiple materials to address complex sealing needs. According
to the company, plugs are designed with a foam pad in one area of the
plug where straight compression sealing is needed and with pile on another
area of the plug where active sealing is needed and the surface being
sealed against is moveable.
The company’s hybrid dust plugs can be produced continuous
on a reel, kiss cut for quick removal from a continuous backing material
or cut-to-length and ready to install. Multiple adhesive options are available
so that the plug can be used on a wide range of substrate materials.
