Georgia on Our Minds

GlassBuild 2015, which runs at Atlanta’s Georgia World Congress Center September 16-18, is one of the biggest events on the door and window industry’s calendar. While hitting every booth at the massive venue would be a real challenge, DWM wants to make your visit a little easier by highlighting some must-see products.


What’s Next for Quanex – Booth 1917

Quanex Building Products will showcase several products, including the Mikron C3-11300 AW-rated door and window system, which the company says is the only operable AW-rated non-metal system on the market. It’s available with tilt-and-turn, casement, awning and fixed windows, and with in-swing and out-swing doors.

Other products in the booth will be its High Heat RollTrusion glazing bead, Q-Glaze caulking sealants, and EdgeTerm 3400 and 3500 Matrix sealants.



Ship Safely with Frank Lowe – Booth 403

The Frank Lowe Rubber & Gasket Company is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. At GlassBuild, the company will display its new low-density polyethylene protective packaging profiles.

The packaging is non-abrasive and features two-dimensional shape ideas, in-line die cutting, in-line adhesive application, and easily added additives including UV protection and anti-static properties.



Deceuninck’s Eos Opens Possibilities — Booth 1703

Deceuninck’s new eos patio door is designed to complement its eos window system. Like the window system, the patio door meets the criteria for Energy Star 6.0. The patio door also contains Deceuninck’s Innergy rigid thermal reinforcements, fiberglass reinforced resin inserts designed to slide into window and door frame chambers for greater support and insulation.

The eos patio door is available as a two-panel, sliding patio door or direct-set versatile door offered in two-, three- or fou r-lite configurations. It has been tested up to DP50 overall for both new construction and remodeling. Structural testing has been conducted up to DP60.


Sweet Music from Royal – Booth 211

The Royal Orchestra Patio Door is a platform that the company says provides maximum flexibility in various configurations and models including all-vinyl or hybrid (vinyl/aluminum) construction.

The Orchestra is Energy Star qualified with 1-inch low-E double, or 1 3/8-inch triple high-energy glass options to provide comfort and energy savings.

The multi-chamber all-vinyl frame provides thermal performance and minimal maintenance. Frames are 7 ¼ inches deep to accommodate 2-inch by 6-inch wall construction. Sashes are 3 ½ inches wide and are backed up by reinforced stiles.

High-performance rollers are part of the package as well.

The Lift & Slide sash option provides smoother operation and superior air and water resistance, according to the company. It can be configured up to 144 inches wide and 96 inches tall, with two panels.

The contemporary-styled interior handle features a double mortise lock for enhanced security. The exterior “Icon” handle is a modern design available in five different finishes.

EDTM Minds Its Ps and Qs – Booth 2135

EDTM will display its recently launched Glass-Chek ELITE product at GlassBuild. This new instrument adds the ability to identify laminated glass in a window, and also measure the thickness of the laminate inner-layer. Also new is a graphical display that shows an illustration of the profile of the window, helping the user to better understand the construction of the window. The display shows the window drawn approximately to scale, and assigns numbers to each piece of glass in the window. It also assigns numbers to each surface of glass, aiding in identifying the low-E-coated surface.



Take a Peeka Veka – Booth 1303

Veka’s GlassBuild America booth will feature numerous products on display, including Evolutions, EuroView, TimberView, SlideView and SwingView, as well as last year’s very successful product launch, Ecolutions. An all-new window design will also be on display for review and comment for VEKA clients and prospects.

VEKA Academy will also debut, giving visitors a small glimpse of VEKA’s new educational platform available to all customers.

VEKA is also partnering with Ventana and Paradigm Windows to showcase the EuroView fold-and-slide product in the Dream Showroom and to present go-to-market strategies for commercial window fabricators in the Express Learning Theater.


WINDOWS L.B. Plastics Goes to 4000 — Booth 419

L. B. Plastics Inc. of Mooresville, N.C., will introduce its new 4000 Series new-construction single-hung window at GlassBuild.

The vinyl window comes with an integral nail fin and J-channel.


Chelsea Makes a Big Impact – Booth 709

Chelsea Building Products will roll out its new 9290 Series Single Hung rated for Zone 3 Impact at the show.

The window meets Missile Level D and Wind Zone 3 Impact test rating in accordance with ASTM E 1886-05 and ASTM E 1996 -12.

The 3 1/4-inch multi-hollowed mainframe has a Light Commercial (LC) Rating of up to LC65, but also works well for residential new construction and replacement installations, the company says. This series features exterior glazing for insulated glass unit options of ¾ of an inch and 7/8 of an inch in width.

A matching XO and XOX horizontal slider is also available. The direct-set picture window, designed for architectural shapes, completes this new offering. An optional field structural mull system is also available when and where projects require.

Solar Innovations Opens Up Big Spaces — Booth 617

This booth will feature folding glass wall systems and pivot doors.

The company’s folding glass wall systems (SI3000 and SI33000) are efficient accordion-style doors that have multiple sill options and profile dimensions providing greater performance and design possibility, according to the company. Solar says it has some of the largest folding glass walls (3½ feet by 9½ feet) tested for Florida ratings currently on the market. Outside of impact-rated zones, the panels can reach 4 feet by 12 feet or larger. Every aspect of the doors can be customized.

Solar Innovations says its pivot door system (SI3000P) provides the ideal solution for large openings with projection restrictions. Pivot doors are available in single-, double- and triple-door configurations.



Gentlemen, Stürtz Your Engines – Booth 135

Stürtz’s 1,800-square-foot exhibit at the show will showcase its full range of cutting, welding and cleaning equipment for vinyl fenestration products.

Attendees will see the latest version of the company’s LinearPro through feed double miter saw. The machine will be displayed with inline fabrication.

The newest innovation in Stürtz’s welding product line will also be shown. The company says its high-speed four-point welder can reduce weld cycle time by as much as 30 percent.

Stürtz will also display its newest-generation twin head corner cleaner.

The updated design features intuitive, graphical programming, refined cleaning tools and simple operation, according to the company.



Emmegi USA’s Quadra L1 – Booth 735

Emmegi USA’s set-up will feature the Quadra L1, a CNC 12-axis machining center that’s designed to perform milling, drilling and cutting on aluminium and other light alloys. It’s made up of an automatic tool magazine and a thrust feed system for profiles sized up to 7500 mm complete with profile clamping gripper drive. Quadra L1 also features an automatic outfeed unit leading from the cutting unit to the unloading magazine. The machining unit can be fitted with an optional cabin to soundproof the central operational part, which not only protects the operator but also reduces the acoustic impact on the environment.


Erdman Ups the IG Ante – Booth 1635

Erdman will display two machines in Atlanta.

The Erdman 400 Series spacer applicator is a low-cost insulating glass production system that the company says works with all flexible spacer systems by applying the spacer straight with true 90-degree corners. According to Erdman, standard operation of the machine requires minimal operator training.

The Erdman fixed head IG secondary sealer features a stationary sealant application system that gives your operator the ability to easily apply a professional, high-quality, consistent secondary seal to your insulating glass units, according to the company.



Ergo Sums up Robotics — Booth 130

Ergo Robotic Solutions will display a new version of its design called the GM 2000-12 EXT.  The “EXT” means it has a telescoping extended boom, which the company says allows it to lift a 2,000-pound load 16 feet into the air.

The versatile machine has an optional feature called “EZ Pick” for picking up and placing a load in one movement along with its other seven articulations.


I Feel Witte, Oh So Witte – Booth 350

Witte has manufactured vinyl bending equipment for more than 30 years. The company’s GlassBuild booth will feature live demonstrations of its bending system.


Groupe Eugenie Gets Around – Booths 449 and 735

Quebec-based machinery manufacturer and importer Groupe Eugenie will be supporting two Italian machinery makers—Emmegi (see page 30) and Oemme.

The Oemme booth will display the company’s latest solutions for the polyamide strut assembly process. A new numeric control knurling machine will also be displayed, as well as a coiled polyamide inserting machine.



Guardian’s ClimaGuard Stands Sentry – Booth 805

Guardian Industries will show two residential glass products at the show – ClimaGuard 72/57 low-E glass with a high solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC); and ClimaGuard IS 30 low-E glass, with a fourth-surface coating for lower U-factor. ClimaGuard 72/57 glass was created for northern climates to take advantage of the sun’s natural light and heat.

Guardian ClimaGuard IS 30 glass can be used with the coating on surface No. 4 of an insulating glass unit for an extra U-factor boost without changing window design, according to the company.


SEALANTS Take It to the EnerEDGE – Booth 305

Tremco will introduce the EnerEDGE warm edge spacer at GlassBuild. EnerEDGE is a pre- desiccated, ready-to-apply, cellular silicone warm-edge spacer that the company says is suitable for a wide range of insulating glass constructions in fenestration applications. EnerEDGE spacer is inset and applied to a glass lite’s perimeter to enable fabrication of dual and triple-glazed IG unites in conjunction with an applied perimeter sealant.

MACHINERY Forel Goes All In – Booth 353

Forel will exhibit its newest insulating glass equipment for residential door and window production.  The booth will feature a fully operational automatic production line including glass washing, flexible spacer application, grids/muntins insertion, argon gas-filling press, and hot melt secondary sealing with several new designs and features that the company says will increase productivity and capacity.



Fenzi is Ready to Seal the Deal – Booth 1135

Italian company Fenzi says it will show the complete range of components for insulating glass offered by the Fenzi Group, including Poliver (a solvent-free polyurethane sealant for use in both single- and dual-seal units); Hotver 2000 (a one-component hot-melt sealant), Thiover (a two-part polysulphide sealant), Molver (a molecular sieve), Butylver (a PIB-based sealant for primary seal), and the range of Alu-Pro and Rolletch warm-edge spacer profiles.

MACHINERY J&S Comes Round the Bend — Booth 746

J&S Machine will display the CR131RH, a full line of profile bending machines from 3C-CLOMEA. The CR131RH is the ideal entry-level machine for anyone looking for easy, affordable repeatability, according to the company.

With storage up to 199 single-radius or 19 three-radius programs, an operator can reproduce multiple parts with ease and consistency.

The CR131RH can also be fitted with several attachments to aid in bending: angle profiles, curved handrails and vinyl extrusions.


Lauren, Bar the Door (Seal) — Booth 2617

Lauren Manufacturing has launched a new 0.825-inch extended-reach door seal that it will display at GlassBuild.

Lauren’s extended-reach door seal has the same benefits as the recently introduced standard size door seal, according to the company. The extended reach door seal can be used on all sides of the door, eliminating assembly time and labor costs associated with the typical two-seal assemblies used in door manufacturing. The seal traditionally was designed to round corners, which the company says further eliminates associated costs as well as creates a tight seal around the perimeter, decreasing the risk of water and air infiltration.


Ultrafab Piles On – Booth 2511

Ultrafab Inc. will showcase a new pile weatherseal product that meets the standards of Underwriters Laboratories UL94 V-O Fire Rating.

The product will come in standard sizes and heights typically used in fenestration products.

In addition to being fire rated, the product performs the same functions as a standard pile weatherseal.


H.B. Fuller Gets Sticky With It – Booth 717

H.B. Fuller Company will showcase its window adhesives and sealants at GlassBuild.

According to the company, its HL-5165 insulating reactive hot melt meets stringent energy-efficiency requirements for building high-quality triple-insulating glass.

For demanding foam-in-place gasket applications, the high-temp HL-5240 Door Lite foamable hot melt application is a heat-resistant adhesive that reduces creeping and distortion, the company says.

Available in clear, gray or black, the HL-5201 backbedding sealant delivers instant handling strength and meets AAMA 800 performance requirements, according to the company



It’s a WTS Paradigm Shift – Booth 1826

WTS Paradigm will display TouchQuote, its mobile selling solution. The company says it’s a powerful tool to increase sales and close the deal by enabling homeowners to browse a catalog at their leisure with Web Channel, WTS Paradigm’s Web-based configurator.

The company will also display CenterPoint, a configurator that manufacturers, dealers, retailers, lumberyards, distributors and contractors use to build and quote complex building products.



American Renolit Asks: Wooden It Be Nice? – Booth 1603

American Renolit Corp. has three new additions to its Exofol In stock range with the release of the Madison Series of interior woodgrain designs. The Madison Series is based on legacy oak designs that have been standards in the residential vinyl window industry for many years. Madison N is a natural oak look, and Madison C and Madison H are darker oak looks. The Madison films feature a scratch-resistant coating that protects the film, according to the company, in addition to exterior-grade printing ink technology. This means the Madison films will resist UV that occurs even in interior applications.



Roto Frank Kicks it Into X-DRIVE – Booth 2321

Roto Frank will display the OP08 X-DRIVE operator for casement windows at GlassBuild.

The OP08 was developed as a line extension to the current OP06 X-Drive casement operators, and features a similar smooth, reliable performance in a sleek, adaptable design, according to the company. The new OP08 operators are produced in Chester, Conn., utilizing the same laser-cut technology used for the OP06 product line, only in a larger dimensional footprint.

The OP08 operator is “skeletal” in design, and requires the use of plastic cover caps, available in powder coat and architectural finishes. The cover caps and crank handles are supplied in kit form in a sealed plastic bag.



Take It to the Max – Booth 825

Ohio-based software specialist FeneTech Inc. will showcase its newest software generation, FeneVision MAX, the latest version of the  FeneVision ERP software. Enhancements and additional functionality has been added to many areas of the system, namely in capacity planning, Web-based quoting and ordering, product navigation and functionality, as well as new features in the Business Intelligence module.

FeneVision offers a full level of integration to support the automation of a complete window or glass processing enterprise, according to the company.


Strybuc Goes By the Book – Booth 2221

Strybuc Industries’ booth will feature its new expanded 2015 Swing, Sliding and Commercial Door Hardware Catalog. It helps you identify the specialty repair parts your customers are looking for. The book has three sections: swing door locking systems and accessories, sliding door locking systems and accessories, and commercial door repair parts.

Strybuc is a distributor for many OEM manufacturer of door and window hardware including Amesbury-Truth, Hoppe, Caldwell, Roto, Ashland, G-U Hardware, W&F, and many other OEM manufacturers. The company says it stocks more than 85,000 parts and products.


Automation For the People — Booth 1807

Caldwell will showcase new automation products include Omni-Nation, a projected window solution that builds on the company’s outswing operator; DreamView, a wireless automation solution for multi-slide, large-format doors; and Enginuity, the residential patio (single patio) door and hung window solution. The company will also display sideload constant force, alternative egress solutions and a new bi-fold door hardware line.


The Dream Showroom

A unique highlight of GlassBuild is the Dream Showroom, a 4,400-square-foot space on the trade show floor that will feature residential windows, entry doors, patio doors, multi-panel door systems and hardware display ideas that dealers can use in their own showrooms.

Pleotint is one of the companies showing off displays in the Dream Showroom. Its popular Suntuitive dynamic glass lightens and darkens by itself with no mechanical or electrical intervention based on changing levels of ambient temperature and sunlight. 

Soft-Lite Windows will display its Elements window and Kingsroyal Glide patio door. Both incorporate Pleotint’s Suntuitive glass and FlexScreen flexible screens. The Elements window features K-Beam thermal reinforcement with Kevlar. The Kingsroyal Glide features reinforcement in all four vertical rails, and the company says it’s the only vinyl sliding door in the industry to incorporate a foam-filled master frame and reinforcement in all four sash stiles. MI Windows and Doors will showcase the company’s new multi-slide door in the Dream Showroom.

The track system pairs with MIWD’s EnergyCore MikronWood patio door panels that can be arranged in two-, three-, and four-track configurations. The interlocking frame components increase the ease of operation, function and installation, promoting a completely integrated frame system, according to the company. With options to pocket the door, homeowners can add a 16-foot clear entryway with no visible panels. The multi-slide door comes standard with tempered LoE3-366 triple silver insulated glass. Additional enhancements include LoE3-340 glass and laminated LoE3 glass.

    John Evans’ Sons Carry a SideLoad – Booth 1311

    John Evans’ Sons will show its new-look SideLoad Constant Force Balance System. In the past, the company’s Constant Force design included sash guide components visible at the top corners of the sash. These guides can now be replaced with sash cams that are out of view and tamper-resistant.



    Zeolan-K Sieves The Day – Booth 3345

    Zeolan-K is a new desiccant bead product for the insulating glass industry in North America that Glasslam will exhibit in Atlanta. The company says it’s already IGCC/IGMA certified and on the approved desiccants lists.

    Zeolan-K is a molecular sieve that the company says offers very low gas desorption values, high water adsorption capacity, granulation without broken particles, and low electrostatic values and zero dust content.

    Pro-Line’s Diverse Line-Up – Booth 3235

    Pro-Line Automation will be showcasing its latest offerings in manufacturing machinery, saw stops and a redesigned four head vinyl welder.

    On display will be the Pro-Fab MC-330, Pro-Line’s 3 Axis CNC Machining Center, and the Pro-Clean CNC-6100 Twin head sash cleaning and fabrication center. These machines represent Pro-Line’s latest efforts in automating the cleaning and fabrication challenges for vinyl window manufacturers.

    Also featured will be the new Quick-Stop QS-10, which the company calls an accurate, economical ball-screw-driven saw stop design-ed to replace the belt-drive stops that have been popular in the industry. Rounding out Pro-Line’s booth will be the redesigned FH-88 four head vinyl welder. This new machine features a more robust base, helical rack-and-pinion drive system, and a more open head design to improve component life and facilitate maintenance, according to the company.


    Wakefield Wraps It Up – Booth 2860

    Wakefield Equipment will be showcasing its K-29P vertical stretch wrapper at GlassBuild.

    The K-29P features automatic cycle wrapping and pneumatic stretch moving. It can also operate at variable speeds, according to the company.

    The company will put on demonstrations of the K-29P in action.
