marks the 30th
anniversary for
Fensterbau in
Nuremberg, Germany, a biennial
event that has grown into the largest
door and window show in the world.
The show had its debut at the
Nuremberg Exhibition Centre in
1988. (Prior to 1988, a regular event
for the German fenestration indus
try was held in Karlsruhe starting
in 1949.) The exhibitions name was
changed to Fensterbau in 2000.
The 2016 edition of Fensterbau wel
comed 110,000 visitors and 794 exhib-
itors from 37 countries. Many of those
visitors are key players in the industry.
According to research from
NürnbergMesse GmbH, the company
that stages Fensterbau, about 62 per
cent of 2016 attendees were involved
with window manufacturing, and
about 84 percent were involved in
purchasing decisions.
This year, organizers are adding
some new features. For example, TED-
style presentations will be held over
the course of the trade show covering
industry issues such as automation,
digitalization, safety and more.
While educational offers will be a
welcome addition for some attendees,
the main focus of Fensterbau is inno
vative new products from Europe and
around the world. Heres a sample of
what will be on display.
