VELUX Introduces New Sun Tunnels
VELUX of Greenwood, S.C., has added a 22-inch diameter rigid sun tunnel to its product line, making it the company’s first sun tunnel for commercial applications. According to the company, the Model TCR 022 is a telescoping rigid tube with a flexible expansion joint that can be integrated into commercial suspended ceiling systems in installations up to 20 feet. Components are included that allow it to integrate into a 2- by 2-foot suspended ceiling system as well. 

Solatube Certified for Energy Efficiency
Solatube International Inc. of Vista, Calif., has announced that it now offers an Energy Star® rated product. The company’s 10- and 14-inch Solatube skylights can be used for both residential and commercial applications and now come standard with the enhanced energy-efficiency rating. According to the company, the new label helps Solatube to better quantify its energy benefits for customers who seek the Energy Star label. 

ODL Lights Up a Room with Tubular Skylights
Zeeland, Mich.-based ODL Inc. offers an Energy Star-certified option for lighting homes with its Builder series tubular skylight. 

According to the company, the acrylic, UV-resistant solar lens dome absorbs 99 percent of UV rays to protect rugs, furniture and clothes from fading. In addition, the patented dome increases light through the tube so that at midday a 14-inch skylight lights up to 300 square feet of space with a solar throughput equal to about five 100-watt light bulbs. A 10-inch tubular skylight is also available.

Wasco Introduces New Options for SkyWindows
Sanford, Maine-based Wasco Products Inc. has introduced the E-Class EVM SkyWindow, which features a high-speed, factory-installed motor, thermostatic controls and a rain sensor that closes the unit in inclement weather. The remote-controlled skylight is programmed thermostatically, allowing users to preset the unit to open and close at predetermined temperatures. 

In addition, the company now offers the architectural series SkyWindow, available in standard and custom styles with a wide variety of glass options. 

JELD-WEN Introduces AuraLast
JELD-WEN, based in Klamath Falls, Ore., has introduced AuraLast wood, solid Western pine used to prevent wood decay, water absorption and termite infestation. 

According to the company, AuraLast wood achieves nearly 100 percent penetration of active preservation ingredients, providing protection against the elements and from nail or screw holes. In addition, the water-based treatment process results in decreases of volatile organic compounds during production.

Merrill Millwork Offers New Exterior Door Frames 
The maker of Park-Vue patio doors, Merrill Millwork Inc., of Merrill, Wis., has developed a new extruded aluminum clad/wood or wood-only door frame for exterior doors. The new frame is available with the Park-Vue patio door sill system or it can be adapted to fit the door manufacturer’s own sill. Custom hinge routes and hardware are also available. The door frame comes in different standard colors, with the inside wood frame primed or ready to be primed.

Numerous Door Styles Available From TruStile
A variety of door styles are offered by TruStile, of Denver, Colo. Customers can choose from medium-density fiberboard or solid wood in more than 300 styles or use the company’s made-to-order manufacturing process, which allows architects and designers to create any custom door design to match a particular architectural style or design preference. 

According to a company brochure, each door is crafted using authentic stile and rail construction. Options such as etched glass, common arched pairs, radius tops and selections of 12 different wood species are available. For commercial needs, TruStile also offers designs in 20- to 90-minute fire ratings.

Box Newels Have Interchangeable Caps
Woodmark of Richardson, Texas, offers box newels that feature interchangeable caps.

The handrail can be joined securely with the box newel using lag screws. The screws are installed through the hollow box-newel top before installing the cap. The company says this gives a beautiful and professional installation without any exposed fasteners and no need for dowel plugs.

The Woodmark box newels are manufactured in two sizes.

Oakwood Classic Gives Customers Custom Woodworks
Oakwood Classic and Custom Woodworks Ltd., of Rochester, N.Y., says it can provide homeowners, businesses, custom homes and restoration projects with handcrafted doors, door frames, windows, mantels, moldings and trims. 

According to the company, only the highest quality grades of lumber are used, in a variety of thicknesses that are kiln-dried, FAS or select and better hardwood. The customer is able to choose any variety of wood and design any shape for a custom door, which Oakwood Classic will deliver pre-finished, primed or raw.
