REHAU System 4500 Achieves Heavy Commercial Rating

REHAU Industries Inc. of Leesburg, Va. has achieved an HC-100 heavy commercial rating for the hopper (inward opening), awning (outward opening) and picture (fixed) configurations of its System 4500 tilt-turn architectural window designs.

To achieve this rating, the window designs were tested under ANSI/AAMA/NWWDA 101/I.S. 2-97 standards in a size range up to 60 inches by 32 inches (hopper and awning) and 72 inches by 72 inches (picture).

The System 4500 tilt-turn architectural window design offers a high-end, multi-chambered window system engineered to exceed current window test standards. A high quality European-engineered dual sealing system forms a barrier against the elements, with an uninterrupted inner and outer compression seal around the entire window. A multi-point locking system improves overall aesthetics and provides consistency, while the multi-chambered design provides superior thermal insulation, according to a company release.

An Alternative to Traditional Paper-Faced Wallboard

Atlanta-based Georgia-Pacific’s DensArmor® Plus is a new generation wallboard panel designed to be used as a replacement for traditional paper-faced wallboard.

Incorporating glass mat facings and a treated moisture-resistant gypsum core, DensArmor Plus provides a high level of moisture and mold resistance, according to a company release. Substitution of glass mat facings for the paper facings found on regular wallboard helps to remove a potential food source for mold development. When the combination of temperature and elevated humidity or moisture combine over time with mold spores in a wall cavity or wall surface, it is possible for mold to develop on paper-faced wallboard.

DensArmor Plus has physical properties conforming to the applicable sections of ASTM C1177 and C630.
