Plans for the 1998 Glass and Metal Hall of Fame inductions are underway, with the annual dinner ceremony scheduled to take place October 2 in conjunction with Glass Expo Midwest™ '98 in Grand Rapids, MI. Nominations for the newest inductees to receive the prestigious honor are now being sought.

Established in 1994, the Glass and Metal Hall of Fame celebrates those professionals who give of their time and talents for the betterment of the industry as a whole. The individuals are selected in appreciation of their professionalism, involvement in civic and business organizations and their contributions to the glass industry.

Last year's inductees were Bill Birch of Association Services Corporation in Topeka, KS; William (Terry) Fuldner of EFCO Corporation in Monett, MO; and Bill Hart of Hart Glass in McDonough, GA.

In 1996, inductees into the Glass and Metal Hall of Fame included Edward Fennell of Bartelstone Glass in the Bronx, NY; H. (Fritz) Fridson of Modern Mirror and Glass Co., Inc. in Roseville, MI; Maurice (Maury) Petersen of Petersen Aluminum Corporation in Chicago, IL; and Lionel (Nels) Vachon of National Glass & Gate in Providence, RI.

Shirley Palmer-Ball of Palmer Products Corporation in Louisville, KY; Ralph Ross of North American Glass Fabrication in Bensenville, IL; and Jim Trainor of Trainor Glass Company in Alsip, IL, were honored in 1995.

The charter members inducted in 1994 are Alan Maca of Sommer & Maca Industries in Chicago, IL, and Herman Helfer of Costello Glass in Chicago, IL.

As in previous years, the 1998 Hall of Fame inductees will be celebrated at a gala dinner ceremony in their honor during Glass Expo Midwest. This year's dinner will take place October 2 at the Grand Rapids Plaza Hotel and Center in Grand Rapids, MI. The entire industry is invited to attend this prestigious event.
