Andersen® Offers Accessible Windows

Bayport, MN-based Andersen Windows, Inc. offers two windows for those with disabilities: the Andersen Gliding Window and Andersen Perma-Shield® casement window. The company says its gliding window was created to meet the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A117.1 Standard for Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities. The window offers a universal handle design that allows for greater control when operating the window. The handles are available in solid-forged bright brass finish, antique brass and chrome, and in four distinctive colors, including red, which was selected with visually impaired people in mind. Other features of the window include a multiple locking system, two movable sashes with adjustable guides that pivot into lock position and a track designed with rounded frame channels for easy operation and cleaning.

The Perma-Shield casement windows are enhanced with a roto-gear operator that also meets ANSI standards. The window features a locking system with a single-level actuator, a pivot near the center, high-performance™ Low-E glass, a natural pine interior and low-maintenance Perma-Shield® exterior cladding in white, Sandtone or Terratone®.


HEWI Offers Wood and Nylon Railing Systems

HEWI, Inc. of Lancaster, PA, manufactures railing systems for use in stairways, landings and balconies in commercial facilities and residences. The materials used to construct these include nylon with steel inserts.


Freewill™ Bath and Shower Module Element Available From Kohler®

Kohler Co., of Kohler, WI, offers the redesigned Freewill™ bath and shower module, which is ADA-compliant. The module, which has been primarily installed in hospitals and other institutions, is becoming prevalent in residences, according to the company. It offers a variety of colors, a movable seat, grab bars and a slip-resistant surface. The grab bars are available in brushed stainless steel, polished stainless steel and white or gray nylon.



YKK Presents Hurricane-Resistant Framing System

YKK AP America of Atlanta, GA, has introduced its YKK ProTek™ (YHC 300) hurricane-resistant framing system for curtainwall applications. According to the company, YHC 300 is designed to resist the fierce cyclical pressures and projectiles associated with hurricane-force winds. The company says the system accommodates glazing thicknesses of 1/4-inch to 3/8-inch for monolithic glass and one-inch insulating units, and provides protection against air and water infiltration.



Security Lock Adds Glynn-Johnson Hardware

Security Lock Distributors of Needham Heights, MA, has added Glynn-Johnson door control hardware to its product line. The mortise lock combination and privacy function, HL push/pull latch, and automatic and constant latching flush bolts highlight the roster of Glynn-Johnson products Security Lock offers. The company will also stock all stops, pivots, overhead holders, flush and surface bolts, latches and accessories from Glynn-Johnson.


Access Hardware Supply Adds Locknetics Pro-Line Series

Access Hardware Supply of San Leandro, CA, is distributing the Locknetics Pro-Line series. The product consists of four different stand-alone locking applications. The applications, which are battery-operated, include an exit device, electric strike and a mortise-cylindrical lock. According to the company, 20 users can be programmed in via keyboard and the system can expand to include an additional 130.

In addition, the company has announced that it is also stocking products from Jackson Corporation, including 10 and 20 series exit devices and a variety of overhead concealed 20-330 series closers.


JLM Stocks Trine Offset Strikes

JLM Wholesale of Oxford, MI, has announced that it is stocking Trine offset strikes for mortise locks. The company recommends the Trine EN 430 and 435 strikes for new or replacement installation in metal jambs. The strikes feature stainless steel construction, no external solenoid and a 2000-pound, Underwriters Laboratories-tested holding force of one million life cycles. The company says the strikes are designed to be used with mortise locks that have up to a one-inch throw without requiring a relocation of the centerline.

Apogee Aligns With SAGE Electrochromics

Apogee Enterprises, Inc. of Minneapolis, MN, has announced that it has formed a multi-year joint development and scale-up partnership with SAGE Electrochromics, Inc. of Piscataway, NJ. The companies plan to develop, produce and market "smart window" products based on SAGE’s electrochromic technology. According to the company, electrochromic windows, which allow the tinting level in glass to change as the sunlight changes, can offer occupant comfort, energy savings and ultra-violet ray blockage.


Skytech Introduces the Mirage Patio Room

Skytech Systems of Bloomsburg, PA, has introduced the Mirage Patio Room, which is the newest addition to its Mirage family of products. The patio room offers homeowners the option of a knee-wall model for privacy, a glass wall model for an unobstructed view and a full range of sizes and design options. According to the company, the unit comes with tempered safety glass, all-metal fasteners, durable operating hardware and Centrex "no sweat’ panels to protect it from cracks, dents and chipping.



Bullet-Resistant Fiberglass and Windows From Safeguard Security Services

Safeguard Security Services of San Antonio, TX, manufactures UL-listed Amortex® bullet-resistant fiberglass and windows for security applications. The company produces transaction windows with stainless steel and metal frames, sliding windows with a hollow metal frame, aluminum bullet-resistant transaction and fixed windows and steel fixed windows.
