Vistawall Launches New Mall Sliders
Vistawall Architectural Products of Terrell, Texas, is now manufacturing a full line of mall slider systems, including the Phantom Wall 90 weathered slider (shown right) with passage door option, the Phantom Wall 180 interior slider and the mall sliders 360 and 2000. According to information from the company, the mall sliders 360 and 2000 are interior, multiple-track sliders with conventional bypassing panels, while the Phantom Wall 90 sliding mall front provides a moveable vision wall with passage doors. In addition, the Phantom Wall 180 sliding mall system provides fixed and operable units in a single-track configuration with multiple stacking options. All of the systems are constructed with extruded aluminum of suitable alloy and temper, and finished with an anodic coating or high-performance paint finish. The company adds that switches and moving hardware have a tensile strength of 65,000-100,000 PSE with the hardness of 150-200 Brinnell and panes are controlled by spring-loaded track guides, which are unremoveable in the locked position.

CRL Introduces New D-Flex Cut Resistant Glass Handling Gloves and Sleeves
Los Angeles-based C.R. Laurence Co. Inc. has developed D-Flex cut-resistant glass handing gloves and sleeves. The gloves and sleeves are made from Certran X, a tough new fiber combined with stainless steel. The glass handling gloves are also coated with natural rubber dots for a secure grip, and both the gloves and the sleeves can be laundered and bleached repeatedly without loss of protective qualities, the company says. “This tough new fiber, Certran X, raises the safety level for glass handlers and offers more cut resistance than any other similar product,” said Bill Gyore, product manager.

Guardian Introduces Two New Low-E Coatings
Guardian Industries Corp. of Auburn Hills, Mich., has added two new low-emissivity coatings to its Sun-Guard series of products. According to a news release, Sun-Guard LE-40 and Sun-Guard LE-50 feature exceptional solar and thermal performance, and are the latest to join the Sun-Guard series. Like other Sun-Guard products, the new coatings feature one product that can be used in annealed, heat-treated or laminated applications. They are both produced using Guardian’s patented Silacoat® process so the coated glass can be fabricated using the same techniques as uncoated float glass. Niles Aluminum Bends in a New Direction

Notre Dame, Ind.-based Niles Aluminum Products now uses a new bending process for pre-finished materials. “When compared to the procedure of first curving raw aluminum, and then applying the finish after metal curving, our process saves money and speeds turnaround time,” said Don Ort, president of the company. “We do not anneal or preheat metal to make it bendable, which may damage the finish. As a result, tensile strength of the metal is maintained and there is no need to re-temper materials.”
The company says this technique allows it to bend thermally-broken materials, without damage to the thermal barrier, and it is now able to process stock material off the shelf in a T-5 temper.

Wausau Introduces New Curtainwall System
Wausau, Wis.-based Wausau Window and Wall Systems has introduced a new unitized curtainwall system. It is said to be installer-friendly and allows system parts to be made and assembled in panelized frames or units. A number of design options are offered to create pronounced sightlines, operating vents and aluminum feature panels.

“Installation time virtually can be cut in half using a factory-assembled, pre-glazed, unitized curtainwall system,” said Steve Fronek, vice president for Wausau. “The faster we can help close up the building’s exterior skin, the faster that building can open for business.”

The panels are stacked vertically and horizontally, which is said to reduce the need for handling each unit to decrease mishaps and save time.
