IGMFW2001LOGO iGm/FW Visits the Cajun Country
by Penny Beverage

While New Orleans is known for its spicy food, Cajun music and the infamous Bourbon Street, it will get a taste of a new kind of spice in November, when one of the world’s premier glass and fenestration shows—interGLASSmetal/FENESTRATION world (iGm/FW)—comes to the city. iGm/FW will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, November 7-9.

More than 250 companies will show off their newest products and services for the industry, covering more than 300,000 square feet of exhibit space on the show floor. In addition to the new products, an extensive educational program will keep attendees up to date on the current issues and debates in the industry.

Below is a sampling of products that will spice up iGm/FW.

Wood’s Powr-Grip Extends Line of Vacuum Cups

vacuum cups

Wood’s Powr-Grip of Laurel, Mont., will be displaying its full line of vacuum hand cups and below-the-hook lifters, including high-volume production lines and multi-purpose models. According to the company, its hand cups are available in a range of models and pad diameters from 3 to 10 inches for handling either curved or flat glass.

The company plans to unveil a new hand cup specially designed for patterned glass at the show. The cup features a unique sealing edge and soft rubber, according to the company, and is available with either a metal or ABS handle.

For installation and light manufacturing operations, Powr-Grip will display the P11104 and MRT. These units feature lightweight, compact designs with manual rotation and tilt for easy load positioning and non-board, self-contained DC vacuum systems for tangle-free movement. Two new lifters from these lines will be featured, the PR4 Air and MTA8. According to Powr-Grip, the PR4 is an economical, 90-degree, air-powered rotator designed for smooth and effortless rotation on edgers and bevelers. The MTA8 features Powr-Grip’s quadra-tilt design that reduces the effort of tilting loads between upright and flat positions. The standard lifter features a 29 by 100 ¼-inch frame with eight multi-position vacuum cups that accommodate a variety of load sizes.

TruSeal Announces Plans to Unveil Spacer System at iGm
TruSeal Technologies of Beachwood, Ohio, plans to introduce its newest warm-edge spacer, DuraSeal™. According to TruSeal, DuraSeal takes optimum advantage of laminates and adhesives to reduce thermal conductivity while also improving surface and corner appearance over other flexible spacers. In addition, a polymer stiffener ensures a smooth, crisp sight line.

TruSeal also says DuraSeal’s inherent flexibility allows window manufacturers to produce both standard and specialty windows with a single spacer system. TruSeal says that thanks to its high-volume spool packaging, manufacturers can produce more units with minimal downtime and waste.

Tamglass Speeds Things Up with SuperE Convection System

Finland-based Tamglass Ltd. will travel across the world to exhibit its SuperE convection system for low-E tempering. According to the company, its new convection system speeds tempering and increases output capacity from its standard convection system. The system accommodates various loading patterns and sizes and does not use any high-temperature components; instead, the system uses blowers. In addition, the system allows adjustments to be made easily, accommodating a variety of architectural glass applications, including those with low-E coatings.

CRL Brings Range of Products to New Orleans
Los Angeles-based C.R. Laurence Co. Inc. (CRL) will display a number of products, including its new DW Series deluxe manual sliding service windows and proprietary rail system for commercial doors. According to the company, the DW Series deluxe manual sliding service windows are designed for applications requiring laminated glass for security purposes. The DW series features a full-length, heavy-duty ball-bearing carrier, an adjustable sliding panel and a self-locking handle. The manual sliding service windows come in six different window configurations, along with glazing options of ¼- or ½-inch tempered, laminated, tinted or wired glass.
CRL’s new proprietary wedge-lock dry-glazed door rail system will also be featured. According to CRL product manager Jim Audette, the door rail system can be installed quickly and provides customers with an option for securing glass in commercial door rails.
