GANA Announces Michael D. Flynn as BEC Conference Keynote
The Glass Association of North America (GANA) has announced that Michael D. Flynn, FAIA, with Pei Cobb Freed & Partners will serve as the keynote speaker for the Building Envelope Contractors (BEC) conference, taking place February 9-11, 2003, in Las Vegas at the Luxor Hotel & Casino.

Flynn has been a partner with Pei Cobb Freed & Partners since 1989, and joined the firm in 1962. His primary design responsibility is oversight of building envelopes and exposed structures. He has been involved in such projects as the U.S. Holocaust Memorial in Washington, D.C.; the Pyramids at the Grand Louvre in Paris; and the Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong.

Architectural Session Speakers for Glass Processing Days Announced
As plans for Glass Processing Days (GPD) 2003 continue to solidify, the highly respected architects, designers and glass specialists who will be speakers at the architectural sessions have been announced. 

GPD 03 GPD will take place on June 15-18, 2003, in Tampere, Finland, Jacques Aschenbroich, senior vice president of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, chairman and chief executive officer of Saint-Gobain Vitrage and managing director of the flat glass division of La Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, will serve as the conference’s opening speaker. 

Chairpeople of the session on current trends in exterior glazing and interior use are James Carpenter from James Carpenter Design Associates Inc., Andrew Hall from Ove Arup & Partners Façade Engineering and Lasse Vahtera from the Finnish Association of Architects.

Chairing the session that concentrates on new developments and applications will be Norbert Wruk from Pilkington Deutschland AG and Frank Rubbert from Saint-Gobain Glass. Giving a presentation on photocatalytic coatings for self-cleaning glass is Devin D. Sanderson from Pilkington Technology Center. Phillippe Armand from Saint-Gobain Glass is also scheduled to talk about self-cleaning coatings for architectural applications.
