Glassrobots Oy Receives Recognition
Finland’s Glassrobots Oy was honored on March 18 by Tarja Halonen, president of the Republic of Finland, for its achievements in international business operations in 2003. 

Winners were chosen who “reflect the challenges of an altered operating environment as well as the company’s ability to develop and implement new operational methods in [its] internationalization processes,” stated a press release issued by Glassrobots.

Finpro, collaborating with the Association of Finnish Works, performed the candidate evaluation. Hannu Leiponen, vice president of Finpro, said some of the winning candidate characteristics included successful and profitable operations, as well as networking and innovativeness in developing both operations and profits. 
With offices in 30 countries, 90 percent of Glassrobots’ bending and tempering systems are exported. The company sells in 40 countries.

Peerless Products Provides Windows for U.K. School

Peerless Products Inc. has announced the shipment of 1,600 replacement windows to St. Catherine’s College in Oxford, England.

The Fort Scott, Kan.-based company was asked to become involved in the replacement project by request of the president of St. Catherine’s American Foundation.

The original windows were specified by Danish architect Arne Jacobsen. To replace them, Peerless built new, double-glazed, low-E panes with integrated Venetian blinds and historically significant sight lines.

Commercial Use in Mexico
Cristacurva Advanced Technology Glass, a licensee of the DFI technology, which is based in Guadalajara, Mexico, has put its CleanTech®-DFI to commercial use. The creation of the Galerias Guadalajara features the Diamon-Fusion® patented hydrophobic technology in several aspects of the building, including the main entry’s glass façade of point-fixed supported glass. A total of 25,000 square feet of tempered and laminated glass was used on the project. 

“This project will create a beautiful architectural scene that is quite visible to the city and will be instrumental in getting future applications of CleanTech-DFI coating to other new commercial projects in Mexico,” said Cristacurva managing director, Francisco Sanchez Gil. 

Adhesives Research Opens Singapore Facility; Ireland Earns ISO Certification 
Based in Glen Rock, Pa., Adhesives Research Inc. has opened a technical center in Singapore. In announcing the grand opening, Adhesives Research said the new center “builds upon sales operations that were established in 2000 to create [its] Asian presence … and reinforces [its] commitment to responsiveness and service for Asian customers.” The new facility is in the same complex as the company’s new sales offices.

In addition, Adhesives Research has announced that its operations in Limerick, Ireland have earned ISO 9001:2000 certification.

“These audit results confirm what a unique, strong, committed team we are,” said Geoff Bennett, president and managing director of Adhesives Research’s European operations.
