America Announce Technology Mark

D-CALC America of St. Louis and Albat + Wirsam of Toronto have agreed to interface and jointly market their software technologies.

D-CALC is a provider of comprehensive, integrated CAD-based order-entry and manufacturing software solutions that are designed to yield a complete BOM, cutting schedule, pricing, lineal optimization, CNC output, custom reporting, shop drawings and more. The software is designed for window and door manufacturers, storefront and curtainwall companies and manufacturers of shower doors and other framed products.

The company’s flagship product is D-CALC 4000. The program’s CAD-based interface allows users to design new configurations on the fly and immediately review a complete bill of materials, labor and cost, as well as total manufacturing time for the product.

Albat + Wirsam is a developer of software for flat glass order entry and order processing. The company’s ALFAK2000® is a modular system that is designed to provide quotations, orders, inventory, purchasing, capacity planning and production control of flat glass orders. It also contains a statistics module and interface for all financial packages available on the marketplace. In addition, the system allows for shaping and nesting, window grill design, glass optimization, re-cut management and dynamic optimization, rack organization and cutting plan display, rough scheduling, batch display, detailed scheduling and more.

Dlubak Installs New Insulating Glass Line
Dlubak Corp. of Blairsville, Pa., has announced it is completing the installation of new high-speed, automated, insulating glass (IG) equipment from Bystronic. According to the company’s announcement, this addition will allow it to offer the glass and glazing industry a single source of fenestration material for commercial, institutional and residential applications.

The company expects the new line to be in operation by December 1 of this year. The IG units produced will carry the brand name of Enviro-Pane.

U.S. Horizon Announces Fleet Expansion
U.S. Horizon Manufacturing has announced that it has increased its fleet of delivery trucks. According to the company, the expansion means that most of Southern California will receive deliveries everyday from U.S. Horizon trucks.
The company says that by controlling the delivery operation, customers benefit from having no freight cost, improved service and hassle-free returns and exchanges.

DAC Products Announces New Division
DAC Products of Rural Hall, N.C., a manufacturer of sample, display and marketing tools for the window and door industry, has announced the launch of a new division, Market Designs LLC, a full-service graphics company that will integrate its product offerings further.

The new division will provide complete creative and printing services to complement DAC’s sample and display cases. Customers will now be able to order a sample or display case with integrated graphics. Digital printing equipment for printing full color, photo-quality images, as well as the ability to provide vinyl lettering and multiple screen-printing will be available.

DAC says its vision is to provide a one-stop resource for its customers’ sample and display needs.

Coastal Industries Opens Atlanta Distribution Center
Coastal Industries, of Jacksonville, Fla., has opened a 12,000-square-foot Atlanta distribution center (ADC), the first such Coastal facility located outside of Jacksonville.
The center will distribute Paragon series, Port Royal and custom shower enclosures. Greg Henderson is the new ADC general manager. 
“By providing a more convenient sales operation, faster deliveries and on-the-spot customer service, Coastal’s Atlanta ADC will enable our customers to have the competitive edge they need to excel in today’s fast-paced marketplace,” said Ray Adams, president.

CRP Sales is now promoting Midland, Mich.-based Dow Corning’s silicone fenestration products in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. Along with CRP Sales, Systems and Components Group and Tom Evan Sales will provide coverage of Dow Corning products in these states
… Universal Alloy Corp. (UAC), a division of ALU Menziken Aerospace, is installing what it says will be the largest extrusion press in North America at its facility in Canton, Ga. UAC has chosen Granco Clark, of Belding, Mich., to supply the handling system, including controls, for the 16,200-ton direct-indirect extrusion press.
