Burke Elected to Apogee’s Board of Directors; Edwards Resigns
Apogee Enterprises has announced that Mark Burke, former president and chief executive officer of Vitro America, has been elected to its board of directors. Burke will serve on Apogee’s finance committee.

“Mark brings 16 years of glass industry expertise to Apogee’s board, which will be an asset as we continue to implement strategies to grow our architectural segment businesses,” said Russell Huffer, chairperson and chief executive officer. “His experience in successful strategic planning for diverse glass businesses will be instrumental as we capitalize on current high-potential architectural glass products and services and value-added picture framing glass products and markets, while adding complementary services demanded by our customers.”

Robert L. Edwards, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Safeway Inc., has resigned from Apogee’s board of directors.

New hires
Mary Carol Witry Joins Oldcastle® Glass as VP 
Mary Carol Witry has joined Oldcastle Glass as vice president of architectural and technical services. 

Witry has 17 years industry experience and was with Trainor Glass prior to joining Oldcastle Glass. At Trainor she held a variety of positions including project manager, estimator, chief estimator, vice president and division manager.

“This variety of roles has allowed Mary Carol to gain an in-depth knowledge of architectural plan review and specifications review, curtainwall systems, structural glazing, fabricated glass and aluminum products and installation, to mention just a few,” said Ted Hathaway, Oldcastle Glass chief executive officer. “Mary Carol has built a reputation as a trusted professional in the industry and we’re delighted to have her on our team.”
In addition, the company has announced that Jody Ogaz has been named its new hurricane product manager. 

Most recently, Ogaz served as a sales representative for Oldcastle Glass in Tampa, Fla. He has 11 years experience with Kawneer and ten years with YKK.

Vitro America Names New National Mirror Sales Manager
Jim Ventre has been named the new national mirror sales manager for Vitro America’s ACI Distri-bution. With 20 years experience in the glass industry, Ventre will work toward building the company’s mirror and laminated glass business for ACI Distribution South and Vitro America.

Before joining Vitro America, Ventre served as national director of mirror sales for Arch Aluminum. Prior to that he worked in sales and management for Gardner Glass Products in Atlanta.

Glass Doctor Hires Anz as Marketing Manager
Glass Doctor, a part of the Waco, Texas-based Dwyer Group Inc., has hired Jeff Anz to serve as the company’s marketing manager.

Anz previously worked as a senior account executive at Fletcher Communications, an advertising agency that handles clients in the Central Texas community. 

“We’re extremely excited to have Anz on our team,” said Robert Tunmire, president of Glass Doctor. “His strong marketing background and his ability to work with the rapidly growing Glass Doctor network will be tremendous assets as we raise the marketing bar for our company on a national and international level.” 

In addition, the company has appointed Jim Minton and Lynn Queathem to new positions within its St. Louis/Kansas City franchise.

Minton, vice president of operations, has been with Glass Doctor since 1993. He will oversee strategic direction of the franchise and work with management on local and corporate levels.

Queathem, vice president of systems and administration, will be responsible for the direction of administrative functions within the company. He has been with Glass Doctor since 1998. 

The Dwyer Group has also promoted Debbie Wright-Hood as its chief administrative officer.

Previously Wright-Hood had served as vice president of administration and secretary for the Dwyer Group since 1998. She has been with the company since 1981.

Jeff Riley Joins Harmon as Project Manager
Harmon Inc. has announced that Jeff Riley has joined its Orlando, Fla., office as a project manager. Currently, Riley is working on a hurricane-resistant window system for a four-story office building in Sarasota, Fla.

Riley has 25 years experience in the commercial glazing industry, beginning his career as a field foreman with West Detroit Glass in Dearborn, Mich. Since that time he has worked in curtainwall and storefront fabrication, installation and, most recently, as a project manager with Exterior Wall Specialists in Northville, Mich. He is also a certified welder and ironworker.

Vistawall Promotes Rutledge to VP of Sales
The Vistawall Group, of Terrell, Texas, has announced the promotion of Jeff Rutledge to vice president of sales over its four divisions, which include Vistawall Architectural Products, Moduline Window Systems, Naturalite Skylights Systems and Skywall Translucent Systems. 

“Rutledge will be responsible for maximizing the synergies of our different sales organizations and our broad product lines in order to achieve the full potential of our company,” said Tom Harris, president of The Vistawall Group.

Rutledge started in sales with Naturalite in 1985, moving up to general sales manager in 1991, with responsibilities over regional sales managers and an extensive network of independent representatives. His most recent position was general manager of Naturalite, where he managed both the engineered and standard skylight segments, as well as Skywall.

Wausau Names New Manufacturer’s Representative
Wausau Window and Wall Systems, of Wausau, Wis., has named Mike Vizcarra and his company, Apollo Architectural, of Penngrove, Calif., as its manufacturer’s representative serving Northern California and Northern Nevada. 

Bringing more than 20 years of experience in the architectural glazing products industry, Vizcarra began his career with O’Keeffe’s Inc., where he achieved the position of vice president of sales and marketing. He continues to represent O’Keeffe’s architectural skylights, SAFTI’s fire-rated glass and framing products, GlassWerks LA architectural glass, Optimum Steel Windows and Dorma’s Crane revolving doors. 

“Vizcarra is quite well-respected in the marketplace and receives glowing recommendations from customers and competitors alike,” said Tim Nass, Wausau’s regional sales manager. “We’re very glad to have him on board and look for a big impact from his addition.”


Shane Campbell has joined Juba Aluminum Products Co., based in Concord, N.C., as an estimator. Campbell was previously employed with Permasteelisa in Johnson City, Tenn. … Holger Reissman has been promoted to the position of regional accounts manager for Marsden Inc. He has been with the company for seven years.
