Vistawall Expands Tennessee Operations; Opens Pennsylvania Office

Vistawall Architectural Products of Terrell, Texas, has announced it will expand its Greenville, Tenn., manufacturing location to incorporate a second extrusion press, doubling the plant’s current capacity.

“The planned expansion of our Tennessee plant underscores the confidence that Vistawall and our parent company, BlueScope Steel, have in the future of our architectural aluminum and building products business,” said Tom Harris, president of the Vistawall Group.

According to the company’s announcement, the new extrusion press is expected to be operating by the end of 2005. The Tennessee plant, currently at 250,000 square feet, primarily serves customers in the Eastern United States.

In addition, Vistawall has opened an engineered products office in Bloomsburg, Pa. According to the announcement, the new location expands the company’s capabilities in estimating, engineering and project management for curtainwall projects.

Brian Cooke, who has 18 years of experience in the architectural aluminum industry, will be serving as the engineered products manager for the Pennsylvania office.

AQMD Awards Blanket Approval For DFI Technology
Diamon-Fusion International (DFI) of San Clemente, Calif., has announced that the Air Quality Management District (AQMD) in California, a state agency that regulates the air quality in the environment under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has issued a blanket approval for operating DFI’s proprietary chemical vapor deposition process.

According to DFI research and development sources, the EPA approval stamp was granted after field source tests of vapor deposition chambers were performed at DFI Licensees’ facilities. 

“This official approval stamp exceeds EPA standards and represents a core element of our mission statement; it was a necessary, additional step that we took not only to educate but to lead the marketplace when it comes to health and environmental issues,” said Adam Zax, DFI president and chief executive officer.

DFI’s nanocoating technology supplies a full range of enhanced hydrophobic properties to the treated glass surface along with an anti-microbial property by inhibiting or decreasing the growth of mold and bacteria on the treated surface, providing a healthier environment in which to live.

e-Skylight.com has announced an upgrade to its free, interactive website. According to the company, improvements include additional options for glazing and skylight layout. The site now provides multiple options for rafter and purlin bay spacing on each custom designed skylight, allowing users to choose a unique appearance. The option also enables users to match the architect’s drawings for bay spacing, according to the company.

Insulite Glass Celebrates 15th Anniversary
Based in Olathe, Kan., Insulite Glass Co. is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. The company began operations in 1990 in 9,000 square feet and with three employees. It has today grown to more than 120,000 square feet, 150 employees and a second location in St. Louis.

The company also announced it has installed a Tamglass Super-Convection furnace, giving it two tempering lines. It is in the process of installing an 84- by 144-inch Casso-Solar laminated line with a Melco Steel autoclave. The installation’s completion is expected in March of this year. Upon completion, the company says it will manufacture all architectural laminated glass products, including blast- and hurricane-resistant glass.
