Viracon Promotes Five to VP Status

Five employees of Viracon, headquartered in Owatonna, Minn., have been promoted to vice president status.

Randall Bush, with the company since 2000, has been promoted to vice president of information technology. Previously he served as director of information technology.

Steve Jensen, with the company since 1974, has been promoted to vice president of logistics and planning. His most recent position prior to his promotion was director of logistics and planning.

Tony Nowak, who has been with Viracon since 1978, has been promoted to the position of vice president of finance. Prior to his promotion he served as division controller.

Rick Voelker, with Viracon since 1978, is now the vice president of technical services. His most recent position was that of technical director.

Jim Wendorff, who has been with the company since 1995, has been promoted to vice president of human resources. He previously served as director of human resources.

“We’re pleased to promote all five individuals,” said Viracon president Don Pyatt. “Each has demonstrated superior capabilities and an exceptional commitment to our company.”


NFRC Announces Deborah Callahan as First Deputy Executive Director 
The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) has announced that Deborah Callahan has joined the organization as its first deputy executive director. According to the announcement, the new position was created to manage additional administrative duties. Callahan will be responsible for overseeing the NFRC’s daily operations involving finance and budgets, legal services, membership and meeting services, human resources and information technology.

Callahan comes to the NFRC from the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions where she served for more than eight years as the director of management information services. Prior to that position, she served as the director of education and information resources at the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research.

She has a bachelor’s degree from Wells College and a master’s degree from George Mason University. She is also a certified association executive through the American Society of Association Executives.

“Deborah brings new and fresh perspectives to the organization and we’re glad to have her aboard,” said Jim Benney, NFRC’s executive director. 


Capital Tape Announces New President
Capital Tape Co. of Cleveland has announced that A. Neil Small has joined the company as its new president. Kenneth Hegyes, who founded Capital Tape in 1990, will assume the position of chairman.

Small, who is originally from Scotland, has more than 15 years of experience as a senior operations manager and strategic financial professional for companies in both the United States and the United Kingdom. 

He has an honors degree in economics and political science from Aberdeen University in Scotland. He is also a fellow of the London-based Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. 

SIS Surface Inspection Adds to Sales and Marketing Team
Klaus Simonmeyer has joined the Surface Inspection Systems (SIS) sales and marketing team as product manager. According to the company, he will be responsible for the support of customers and sales partners, as well as for the continuous product enhancement based on market requirements. Simonmeyer served as software developer for SIS for four years before being appointed to product manager.

Karen Meier has been appointed team assistant, working for Dr. Helmut Scharz, the head of marketing and sales. 

Columbia Commercial Announces New Staff Members
Columbia Commercial Building Products of Rockwall, Texas, has hired five new employees.

Kelly Townsend has joined the company as the East Coast accounts manager. Previously he was with Vistawall. Jorge Martinez, who joins from Tecnol Extrusion, is the new West Coast accounts manager.

The new production control assistant is Alex Orr, who was previously with Door Control Service. 

Eric Smith, who worked previously for Spectrum Designs, is the new engineering manager, and Tom Norton, who joins from Commercial Equipment Company, is the new inventory control manager.
