Fusion™ System Keeps it Simple
The Fusion System from Truth Hardware of Owatonna, Minn., allows the user to operate the lock and tilt latch from one central point. The system is designed to be simple to use and appealing to look at as the tilt latches can now be enclosed within the sash. The new system is available for vinyl or wood window applications.

Ashland Expands Lines of Locks
Ashland Hardware Systems of Lowell, Ind., has expanded its line of LX-series sash locks for both hung and slider windows. The new LX-3, LX-4 and LX-5 host a range of improvements that include strong positive-feel operation, cleaner and more integrated designs and competitive pricing to fit a range of market requirements.

The LX-5 boasts a new spring-action lever that delivers a firm feel and response to the lock’s open and closed positions. 

Ultrafab Unveils Latest Innovative Sealing Option 
UltraClad™, from Ultrafab of Farmington, N.Y., is designed to meet or exceed traditional foam-filled seal performance, at a cost-effective price point. 

UltraClad utilizes the latest polymer technology available, to ensure strong puncture and tear-resistance. An embossed polymeric skin features a low coefficient of friction, and will not attract dirt or dust. The new seal offers consistently low closing forces without variation, according to information from the company. 

UltraClad seal meets all AAMA applicable standards and has achieved Class A and B ratings under the new AAMA 702-2004 standard. 

New Device Limits Tilt-In 
BF Kinsey Design Engineering of Beaufort, S.C., has introduced its patented hung window sash tilt-limiting device. The Tilt Limiter™ uses a stainless steel spring wire and injection molded anchoring pivot slides to limit the tilt-in travel of hung window sashes. The device is available for the 1199 style 3 ¼-inch jamb double-hung aluminum window. Manufacturers can purchase the device through fenestration equipment and material supplier Ramapo Sales and Marketing.

New Washer from DeGorter
De Gorter Inc. of Monroe, N.C., has introduced its horizontal washer model SY.LE.2600, which is suitable to wash and dry float glass and low-E glass. The washer has a working width of 2600 millimeters and an opening for inspection of 500 millimeters. It also has a motorized thickness adjustment up to 35 millimeters and a high speed up to 12 meters per minute, which is electronically-controlled. 

Also new is the open-top washer model VOT.SP20.1600 INOX, with a working height of 63 inches, open top and pneumatic glass thickness selection up to 20 millimeters.

Starphire in Stock
PPG Industries of Pittsburgh announced that its Starphire® Ultra-Clear glass is now available as a standard inventory item in 15- and 19-millimeter thicknesses. The availability of extra-heavy Starphire glass is the result of a $1 million investment the company has made in its Starphire manufacturing capability.

Unlike traditional clear glass which typically displays a light green cast, the clarity of the extra-heavy glass actually intensifies as it gets thicker, allowing architects to incorporate an enhanced level of sleekness and clarity into their building designs. 


Color Effects with NARIMA
The Advanced Materials group of SCHOTT North America Inc. of Elmsford, N.Y., has unveiled NARIMA™ color effects glass to the North American market. NARIMA produces different hues, both in transmission and reflection, depending on the incident solar transmission, the angle viewed and the background. The glass is available in blue/gold, blue/green and green. It can be used for internal and external applications, such as curtainwalls, and is produced by coating glass with an interference layer system. Various thin layers with different thicknesses and characteristics are applied to the glass using the Sol Gel method, a technique developed by Schott for the application of hard coatings to float glass.


Railing System is Resistive
Los Angeles-based C.R. Laurence Co. Inc. (CRL), has introduced its ARS Aluminum Railing System. The system features impact-resistant extruded aluminum railings with high-structural durability and special coatings to resist the corrosive effects of the elements and saltwater. In addition to a variety of standard designs, the company offers custom railings that address project-specific criteria. 

The railing system can accept ¼- to 3/8-inch tempered clear or tinted glass infill options. They are ideal for commercial applications, residential decks, patios and balconies, according to the company.

Technoform I-Spacer and Technoform I-Strut
Cleveland-based Technoform’s I-Spacer insulating glass spacer features a unique hybrid design and offers warm-edge performance to manufacturers of commercial and residential insulating glass units. Performance benefits of the spacer include argon retention, machine-controlled muntin locations, aesthetically-pleasing sightlines and several color options.

Also new from the company is the I-Strut, which allows aluminum fenestration and curtainwall manufacturers to provide a high degree of thermal performance and structural integrity.

Constructed of polyamide 6.6 with 25 percent glass fiber content, the product features an expansion/contraction rate equal to that of aluminum and thermal conductivity rates 700 times better than aluminum alone, according to the company.
