Ready to Learn
Win-door 2006 Aims to Bring Knowledge to the Industry

Ah, November in Toronto. Nothing quite wakes a person up—or at least, those of us from more Southern climes—as a walk in the brisk chill of a late fall day in Canada. Unless, of course, you’re a member of the glass industry, in which case the Canadian Window and Door Manufacturers Association (CWDMA) aims to awaken your senses with this year’s Win-door North America. “Bringing Knowledge to the Industry” is the theme and goal of this year’s trade show and educational program to be held November 14-16.

Show Hours

Tuesday, November 14, 2006 5 - 8 p.m.
Wednesday, November 15, 2006 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Thursday, November 16, 2006 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Toronto Venue
Upon walking out of the brisk air and in through the doors of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (North Building), attendees will find before them more than 150 companies exhibiting on the trade show floor, showcasing their newest products. Among those products will be the latest in computer hardware and software, doors, doorlites, hardware, machinery, sealants, weatherseals, testing services, wood products and systems for the fenestration and door industries. Exhibitors will likely stay busy “bringing knowledge” to the more than 4,000 attendees expected to come from across Canada, the United States and all corners of the world. And among those exhibitors will be USGlass magazine in booth 1609.

While exhibitors do their part to “bring knowledge to the industry,” the CWDMA has announced that it will be offering its continuing series of industry topical seminars.

“Knowledge and information are key ingredients to the success of any manufacturing business today,” says CWDMA president Robert Latour, of Novatech. “The association has responded to the members’ requests for industry topical seminars relating to all aspects of their fenestration businesses.”

The sessions include the CWDMA Super Session (November 15, 8:15 – 10:30 a.m.), which will include a high-profile speaker addressing business challenges and solutions and an update on industry best practices and installation. In addition, a general meeting (November 16, 8:15 – 10:30 a.m.) will prepare attendees for the future with an update on CWDMA programs as well as an economic forecast.

Getting to the Show
For anyone not enjoying an invigorating walk from one of several nearby hotels, Novatech, Truseal and Mendelssohn Customs and Transportation Services are providing free parking in both the north and south parking garages of the convention center for all participants—just steps from the show floor.
