Eric Rapp Named AFG Glass Vice President, Fabrication
Atlanta-based AFG Industries announced that Eric Rapp joined the company as vice president, fabrication. In his new role, Rapp will be leading all AFG residential and commercial fabrication operations in the United States and Canada. 

Rapp served as president of Cardinal IG Co. and vice president of Cardinal Glass Industries until 2006. His experience with Cardinal spanned 27 years. Prior to his tenure there, he served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1968 to 1972 and also with PPG for five years. 

Rapp is a member of the University of Missouri at Rolla’s Academy of Chemical Engineering and was awarded a professional degree by UMR’s Department of Chemical Engineering. He also has been actively involved with various glass industry associations including having served as president of SIGMA (now IGMA) and as a member of the WDMA board of directors. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri at Rolla and has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering. 

In addition, AFG appointed Ryan Cooper as sales representative for the commercial fabrication group in the province of Saskatchewan.

Cooper will be replacing long-time AFG sales representative George Coulling, who retired on January 12. Cooper will be based in the city of Saskatoon, while representing the Regina plant location.

Vitro America Adds Three New Reps
Lily Gonzalez Adamo
has joined Vitro America, headquartered in Memphis, Tenn., as a representative for Binswanger Mirror, ACI and Vitro Flat Glass in Florida. Her territory includes the Florida panhandle from Tallahassee to Jacksonville and south. Adamo entered the glass business in 1981 and has been a manufacturers rep since 1990.

Bobby Maciejewski, Jr. is the new Binswanger Mirror representative for southern New Jersey, Philadelphia and parts of Maryland. He will also handle The Classic Line for the ACI fabrication division. He comes to Binswanger Mirror and ACI with more than 21 years in the glass and metal industry. 

Sanford Sachtleben now represents Bins-wanger Mirror and ACI Distribution for parts of Missouri, Des Moines Iowa and Southern Illinois. Sachtleben has 25 years of experience in the glass industry and has been an independent rep since 1990. 


Technoform Names John Cari I-Strut™ Division General Manager
Technoform in Twinsburg, Ohio, named John Cari general manager of its I-Strut division. Cari was hired late in 2005 to oversee the logistics of bringing the company’s Twinsburg manufacturing facility on-line. He has been its production manager for the last six months. 

Cari held a number of top positions in and out of the North American fenestration industry, most recently as president of Ashland Products (now Ashland Hardware Systems). He holds a bachelors of science degree in management from Lewis University in Lockport, Ill. Cari will split his time between Technoform’s I-Strut design center in Johnson City, Tenn., and the manufacturing facility in Twinsburg. 

Sheffield Plastics Appoints Wiecking Architectural Market Manager 
Sheffield Plastics Inc. in Sheffield, Mass., promoted Karl Wiecking to the position of architectural market segment manager for the Americas. In this new position, Wiecking’s primary role will be to direct the company’s new technology, expanding the influence of polycarbonate sheet in the architectural glazing market as it exists today. 

Wiecking has more than 30 years of experience with polycarbonate sheet in architectural applications and is an active member of the Glass Association of North America’s laminating division. 

Viracon Promotes Four
Owatonna, Minn.-based Viracon employees Garret Henson, Joe Effertz, Pat McDermott and Brian Louks recently received promotions. Henson was promoted to director of sales. Previously, he was director of sales for the company’s international and domestic Western region. His expanded role will include additional sales management responsibilities, and he will be responsible for all domestic sales west of the Mississippi River. 

Effertz was promoted to director of international sales. In this role, he will have international sales responsibilities that includes Canada. Effertz has been with Viracon for seven years in sales and sales management roles. Previously, he was an international sales business development manager for Viracon. 

McDermott has been promoted to director of sales for the Southeast region. He will have sales responsibilities from Indiana to Louisiana and from Virginia to Florida. McDermott has been with the company for eight years serving in a number of positions, most recently as customer service manager. 

Louks was promoted to quality assurance manager for the Owatonna, Minn., facility. Prior to his promotion, Louks, who has been with Viracon for 20 years, served as a quality assurance supervisor. He is a certified quality auditor through the American Society for Quality.

H.B. Fuller Appoints New CFO
John Feenan has resigned from H.B. Fuller Co. in St. Paul, Minn., effective February 15. Succeeding Feenan, who served as senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO), as interim CFO is Jim McCreary, currently vice president and controller. 

“We would like to thank John for his dedication to the financial success of H.B. Fuller, and the many contributions he has made during his tenure. We wish him all the best as he embarks on this new opportunity,” said Michele Volpi, president and chief executive officer. “We have a strong financial team and I am confident Jim will do an excellent job in managing these additional leadership responsibilities.” 

McCreary was appointed vice president and controller in November 2000. Prior to joining the company, he served as vice president, administration and controlling, for the Industrial Chemicals Division of Bayer Corp.

Lipscombe Joins Pentagon Protection as Vice President of Marketing
Steve Lipscombe joined Dublin, Ohio-based Pentagon Protection USA as vice president of marketing. He has more than 25 years experience in marketing and commercial roles within the fast moving consumer goods industry, business-to-business and specifier markets both in the UK and Europe. For eight years, prior to starting the Logic Chain Business Development Consultancy, he was marketing and technical communications manager for Pilkington Building Products Europe. 

Lipscombe developed communication plans for the harmonization of European Standards across the region and is a frequently published author and noted speaker on many of the issues affecting growth and technical developments within the industry. In 2006 he was responsible for the restructuring and re-launch of Pentagon Protection plc in Europe and the Middle East. 


Wausau Window and Wall Systems in Wausau, Wis., named Gary Stella as its manufacturer’s representative in Washington and Oregon 

Minneapolis-based Apogee Enterprises Inc. announced that Michael B. Clauer, executive vice president, left the company effective December 31, 2006 

JLM Wholesale in Oxford, Mich., introduced its new Northeast sales representative, Pete Byrne. Byrne resides in the Boston area and has many years of experience in the hardware and access control industries.
