Mike Rupert Wins Shades of Green Leadership Award
Michael L. Rupert,
Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries’ director of performance glazings technical services and product development, won the Shades of Green Leadership Award from the Green Building Alliance in Pittsburgh. The awards are given annually to highlight the efforts of distinctive persons in Western Pennsylvania who have contributed to the region’s environmental transformation through green leadership.

Rupert was recognized for his leadership of the PPG team that developed Solarban 70XL. Rupert is a 33-year veteran of the PPG performance glazings technical and product development team. The introduction of Solarban 70XL glass was the result of his three-year leadership effort, which encompassed every aspect of the product’s development, from identifying customer needs and expectations to overseeing research and development.

CRL Promotes DJ Friese to Executive Vice President 
Los Angeles-based C.R. Laurence Co. Inc. (CRL) promoted DJ Friese to the position of executive vice president. Friese joined the company in 1992. Since that time he has been a sales representative, regional sales manager, vice president of customer service and vice president of sales and service. Friese is also a corporate officer, serving as a member of the executive committee.

“DJ has done an excellent job in his role as vice president of direct sales and service,” says Lloyd Talbert, president. “Now, he will also be responsible for managing and directing the technical sales division, which consists of five distinct business groups/brands: commercial hardware, architectural hardware, shower hardware, transaction/hospitality hardware and key accounts. These are the fastest growing areas of the company, and DJ has been instrumental in developing new business in these areas over the past several years.”

Viracon Promotes Ryan Hoffman to Architectural Field Sales
Viracon in Owatonna, Minn., promoted Ryan Hoffman to architectural field sales for Northern California and Northern Nevada. Hoffman joined the company in 2005 as a field sales trainee, where he focused on inside sales, technical services, architectural promotion and field sales methodology.  

Hoffman holds a bachelor’s of art in marketing from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he majored in international business.   

Dlubak Promotes Mark Kearns
Mark Kearns has been promoted to vice president of sales for Dlubak Corp. in Blairsville, Pa. 

Kearns previously held the position of sales manager and has been with the company since 1999. Prior to joining Dlubak Corp., he was a senior project manager with Naturlite Skylight Systems in Terrell, Texas. new hires

ITW Red Head Names Two Managers, Field Engineer 
Claudio Silva joined ITW Red Head, based in Addison, Ill., as western regional field engineer. Previously, he served as project engineer for Kanda and Tso Associates Consulting Structural Engineers. Originally from Brazil, Silva earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in business administration from Instituto de Ciencias Sociais do Parana, Brazil, and a bachelor’s of science degree in civil engineering from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, Calif. He is also a registered professional engineer in California. 

The company named Gerry Adams national sales and marketing manager. He holds a master’s of business administration degree from Pepperdine University and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University.

In addition, Bill Dubon joined the company as an engineering manager. He has a masters of business administration from the Keller Institute in Oak Brook, Ill., and a bachelors of science degree in electro-mechanical engineering from the Monterrey Institute of Technology in Monterrey, Mexico. 

Coastal Hires Cobb as Regional Sales Manager
Coastal Industries in Jacksonville, Fla., hired Patrick Cobb to serve as the regional sales manager for the mid-Atlantic region, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Maryland. Matt Ritchie, who formerly held the position, will now serve as sales manager for the company’s manufactured housing and recreational vehicle industries. 

Cobb earned a bachelors of science in business administration with a concentration in finance from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. He has four years of experience in sales. 

Snyder to Head IBA’s Northeast Operations 
John Snyder has been named regional vice president of Miami-based IBA Consultants Inc., a firm specializing in curtainwall consulting, inspection and testing. Snyder will oversee the launch of the company’s New York office and the expansion of services in the Northeast. 

Snyder brings more than 22 years of experience with exterior window and wall systems, including custom designed window walls, ballistic and bomb-resistant fenestration and hurricane-resistant systems. His expertise includes specification and detail preparation, mock-up and field-testing, as well as all aspects of fenestration design, manufacture and installation. Snyder holds a CSI certification and received his bachelor’s degree from Alfred University.

Truseal Enhances Marketing and Sales Staff 
Truseal Technologies Inc. in Solon, Ohio, named Marcus Linde marketing specialist for North America and director of business development in Europe. Linde has held international marketing and account management positions with several tier-one automotive suppliers. 

In addition, Greg Bennett was promoted to regional sales manager, responsible for the Southwestern United States and Mexico. Bennett has been with Truseal for eight years in various sales positions. 

Cimmino Joins ADCO as Sales Manager 
ADCO Products Inc. in Michigan Center, Mich., announced that Ron Cimmino joined the company as national sales manager for the assembly, construction and distribution market.

Cimmino brings sales and marketing experience in chemicals and adhesives, having served in senior positions for Reichhold, Ashland Chemical and Henkel Corp. He has a masters of science in marketing and a bachelors degree in business from Cleveland State University. 

Former AAMA Meetings Director, Jan Hockett, Dies
Jan Hockett, the former meetings director of the American Architectural Manufac-turers Association (AAMA), passed away in March at the age of 70. Hockett retired in 2006 after 25 years with AAMA. On March 18, she lost a long battle with cancer.  

“Jan was a strong and vibrant woman with a huge heart and a ton of class. She not only planned great meetings, she was that welcoming face you always looked forward to seeing and catching up with,” says Rich Walker, AAMA president and chief executive officer. “We know that many of our members feel the same way about her and will miss her as well.”
