GlassCon Global Debuts This July

The inaugural GlassCon Global is set to take place July 7-9, 2014 at the Philadelphia Convention Center in Philadelphia. Organized by the Finishing Contractors Association and the Glass Association of North America, the new technical conference will focus on glass and glazing innovation in North America. Topics to be discussed at the event include architectural challenges and solutions, new technologies and innovations, structural engineering case studies, energy performance in buildings, coating technology and applications, and business economic outlooks.

According to event organizers, GlassCon Global will offer more than 20 hours of programming designed to provide a variety of usable content relevant to all facets of the design and construction industry. Attendees can expect thought-provoking discussion among global designers and three concurrent educational tracks geared specifically to address issues affecting all members of a project team.

Keith Boswell, technical architectural director for SOM’s San Francisco office, is a panel member in GlassCon Global’s Transatlantic Debate to take place on July 8. In this plenary session, panelists will discuss standards, products, design aesthetics and more. Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter will serve as guest speaker at the opening event on July 8. He vows to continue to implement the nationally recognized GreenWorks Philadelphia initiative that is helping to make the City of Philadelphia become the greenest city in America.
