Line it Up

Benteler’s standard tecLami line is based on a standardized modular concept for various glass sizes, while the custom-size laminating line is built for a flexible automatic or semi-automatic production with high output. With automatic PVB laying and trimming for rectangular, insulating glass production, the line does not require manual operation in the assembly room.

The automatic custom-size laminating line is for an automatic process with high output of double-laminated glass with automatic film-laying function from one to three PVB films at the same time. Due to the flexibility with the different programs, such as automatic PVB laying and trimming or manual assembly with trimming, the customer has the option to use the optimal program for fast and cost-efficient production, according to the company. The jumbo-size laminating line is for full automatic PVB production with automatic trimming and a high output with standard DLF and PLF formats. The line provides optimal results within a cycle time up to 45 seconds, according to the company.

Passing the Test

SuperLite III-XL multilaminate from Safti First was successfully tested recently by Underwriters Laboratory (UL) for both 60 and 120 minutes in accordance with the requirements of ASTM E-119 and UL 263 with hose stream. According to the company, the glazing has the largest fixed clear view panel in the industry with 5,978 square inches.

Testing also included butt-glazed SuperLite III-XL multilaminate for both 60 and 120 minutes achieving a clear view size of 6,975 square inches. The glass also meets the requirements for CPSC Cat. II impact safety and is available with Starphire utra-clear glass by PPG and other custom make-ups.

Clear Some Space

AGC Launches Energy Select 20

Following the introduction of its triple-silver Energy Select 28, AGC is now offering a new high-performing coating on three of its most popular tinted substrates: Pure Bronze, Pure Grey and Meadow Green. According to the company, Energy Select 20 provides maximum solar control, yielding the highest level of performance available with a solar heat gain coefficient as low as a .20, and light-to-solar gain ratios ranging from 1.58 to 2.02, depending on the tinted substrate selected. Energy Select 20 tinted low-E combines the benefit of maximum solar control and high visible light transmittance for commercial applications.

software and web tools

An App for That

The ViraconGlass iPad app, now available as a web app on the company’s website, allows users to select from 25 different coatings on 15 substrates, presenting transmitted and reflective glass color on a variety of building types. The models can then be viewed under different lighting conditions from both interior and exterior perspectives for comparison.

With a specific glass project in mind, users can also explore size capability by dragging a corner with a simple click of a mouse, or entering the dimensions manually in the sizing tool. The web app includes all of the same side-by-side comparisons and product performance information as the iOS version, which can be downloaded by visiting the iOS App Store using an iPad or iPad Mini and using the search term “Viracon.”

All in the Details

LogiKal is a complete and comprehensive estimating, fabrication, and project management software system specifically designed for the contract glazing industry. The program provides a complete take-off of the material, optimized metal, glass and panel sizes with shape drawings, pricing, labor, installation costs, as well as the fabrication drawings and CAD output for inclusion into shop drawings and more.

For commercial glaziers utilizing automated stop saws or CNC machine centers, the software creates all of the necessary code on the fly and is capable of sending the information directly from the program to the shop floor, according to the company. It also provides structural analysis of the elevations as they are created, suggests members and steel that will work on failed members, and provides detailed structural reports.

LogiKal is developed by Orgadata of Germany and is distributed and supported in North America by Building Envelope Software Technologies Inc. based in Denver.
