Gateway Extrusions Plans to Expand with New Equipment

Gateway Extrusions has embarked on a significant expansion of its Union, Mo., facility.

The company recently purchased the 129,000-square-foot production plant it had been leasing as well as adjacent properties, and is completing renovations to accommodate additional equipment, including a new aluminum billet extrusion press.

“Gateway Extrusions has seen considerable growth in its sales and the variety of markets it serves, a result of the strategic plans put in motion over the past several years,” says vice president Tom Ziegler. “This investment and expansion of our Union, Mo., facility represents another step in the company’s overall growth goals.”

Two local professional firms are working on the construction and renovations at the factory: Washington Engineering & Architecture of Washington, Mo., is handling the design and engineering, and general contractor Lewis & Associates of Union, Mo., is the on-site construction manager.

Construction should begin later this year on a new 19,000-square-foot addition to house a new vertical powder coating paint line, part of Gateway’s next phase of expansion.

New Equipment on
the Way for Aldora

Aldora is in the process of upgrading equipment at its Charleston, S.C., location to increase production speed and product quality. According to a company statement, the additions are a result of increased demand for fabricated glass products and the age of the existing equipment.

Included in the purchase is a new true convection furnace, capable of tempering 84-by-196-inch lites of glass. Thicknesses range from 1⁄8 to 3⁄4 inches, including low-E soft coats. According to Aldora, the furnace is ordered with installation slated for late third/early fourth quarter of 2015. The company also has a CNC waterjet on order for the third quarter of 2015. In the fourth quarter, the Charleston location is due to receive a jumbo
cutting table.

HHH Joins Forces with NorthGlass

HHH Tempering Resources Inc. has signed a U.S. and Canadian distributor agreement with Chinese glass tempering manufacturer NorthGlass. HHH will maintain and offer an “expanded product line” of NorthGlass furnaces, cutting tables, parts inventory, installation and technical support.
