Q-railing Expands, Enters Canadian Market

Q-railing has partnered with Toronto-based GlassCan to introduce its line of designer railing systems and glass balustrades to the Canadian marketplace.

“After spending some time with the GlassCan team, I quickly realized the benefits that a partnership between our respective companies would bring to our customers,” says Paul Dructor, Q-railing’s architectural general manager. “GlassCan has a longstanding relationship with, as well as a thorough understanding of, both the Canadian architectural community and the glazing community. Their extensive experience with fully engineered products in the construction industry will help us to further introduce Q-railing’s line of engineered railing systems to the Canadian marketplace.”

“With a more stringent Canadian guard standard on the horizon, Q-railing is perfectly situated to enter the marketplace and to fulfill the need for a design-centered, premium brand of railing systems that are intelligent, practical and safe while maintaining competitive pricing,” says Jennifer Hickman of GlassCan.

Tristar Adds on
at Two Facilities

Tulsa, Okla.-based Tristar Glass Inc. has made additions and improvements at two locations.

The Grand Prairie, Texas, facility is adding a Bottero cutting table and a Glaston 96-inch FC500 tempering system. This expansion will be complete by March 2016.

Its Catoosa, Okla., facility will be adding 30,000 square feet of warehouse space. This will allow for another jumbo cutting system, tempering furnace and more glass fabrication equipment, according to the company. This expansion is scheduled for completion early next summer.

Optimum Window Celebrates 30 Years

Optimum Window of Ellenville, N.Y., is marking its 30th year in business with a big expansion.
A 165,000-square-foot addition to its building was completed in September.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating 30 years in the window industry,” says vice president CJ Perez. “From 20,000 to 185,000 square feet of space, we’re excited with how our new addition will help to accommodate growth.”

Tubelite Expands Sales Team

SIGCO Inc. is now the New England sales representative for Tubelite Inc. SIGCO will work with glazing contractors in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

“We’re proud to be a long-time distributor of Tubelite’s products and excited to expand our work together,” says SIGCO president Dave McElhinny.

Steve Green, Tubelite’s vice president of sales and client services, adds, “We will now [apply] SIGCO’s field sales representatives to serve glazing contractor accounts that will buy on a direct basis from Tubelite. SIGCO’s presence and continued expansion and commitment in the New England market make this association a great fit.”

In other news, Tubelite opened a new client services office in the Providence, R.I., area. Team members include Anita Bongiardo, Jim Ferrara, Elizabeth (Betsy) St. Onge, Melissa Torres-Hardy and Mario Gaspar.


CGI Windows & Doors made donations benefitting the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Training Facility in Doral, Fla., as well as the local Habitat for Humanity Chapter. Representatives from the fire rescue training facility received a large selection of doors and windows to be used in firefighter training. New hardware, deadbolts and levers were donated to a local Habitat chapter. … ICD High Performance Coatings has two new distributors. Components Import and Export of Brazil and Alptech Co. Ltd. of South Korea are now authorized distributors of the company’s products in Brazil and South Korea, respectively.
