Robert Edelstein, owner of Trust the Best in Bellevue, Wash., has been around almost as long as window film itself. He entered the business at age 20 and now travels between numerous homes throughout the United States while running his business in Bellevue.

How long have you been applying window film?
Going on 20 years.

How did you get started in the business?
I started my first tint shop with $1,100 I inherited when I was 20 years old.

What is your favorite car to tint?
These days I prefer the Mercedes Benz S body.

What is your least favorite car to tint?
These days the toughest one seems to be the new VW Beetle, but the other day I did a 348 Ferrari that was kind of tough, too.

How many cars/vehicles do you think you’ve tinted?
I would guess between 5,000 and 10,000.

What do you think the biggest obstacle is for a growing tint shop?
I know it’s keeping good installers, as when you teach them to be the best, they know they can make it on their own.

What are your future plans for your business?
To take over the world, like Bill Gates.

I have a sailboat and motorboat and I ride motorcycles. (Not Harley Davidsons, though—that’s a fad.)
