CPFilms “Parent” Celebrates 50th

CPFilms will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Martin Processing Co. this year.

XPEL Completes Shadow Buy Out
San Antonio-based XPEL Technologies Corp. has completed the purchase of all of the issued and outstanding shares of Shadow Tinting Ltd and 1290801 Alberta Ltd., of Calgary, Alberta, (“Shadow”).

Nuno Ferreira founded Shadow in August of 1999, as a paint protection and window tint film training, installation and distribution operation to serve Western Canada. Paintshield U.K., without contribution from its affiliates, is projected to add approximately U.S. $1,000,000 to XPEL’s top line revenue in 2007.

EPD University Moves Online
In an effort to train its dealer network with the latest techniques in sales and installation, and to communicate industry news, Energy Products Distribution (EPD) in Baltimore, a 3M-authorized distributor of 3M window film products, has moved its in-house educational forum, EPD University, online. The interactive training session gives dealers the opportunity to interface with dealers in other areas of the country. Conducted at least four times a month, topics for these net meetings have included: how to use the 3M logo properly, how to use 3M’s e-Warranty system, how to sell to the commercial market and how to use DOE-2 Demand Analyzer, among others. “EPD U has always been successful with dealers but conducting it through net meetings has taken it to the next level,” said Manny Hondroulis, marketing leader of EPD. “We’ve branded the concept and are investigating even better technology to maximize the experience.” www.epdwindowfilm.com

Tint in High Places
A recent unveiling of Boeing’s new 787 aircraft revealed the company’s decision to forego traditional pull-down blinds for window tint.

According to CityNews in Toronto, the company used the latest technology and designed the plane from a passenger’s point-of-view. CityNews reports that passengers are seated nine abreast in coach, but seats are spread out so that everyone is in sight of a window. The windows are bigger than any ever installed in a plane and feature an electronic filter to automatically allow passengers to tint their windows and sleep, while still being able to see outside.
